An Experiment On Swiss Ballys

Here are a pair of vintage Swiss Bally shoes in solid condition that I found for $5.00. They had heavy coats of dark brown shoe polish on them. So I took some Dye Prep shoe cleaner and then Acetone to wipe off the gunk. Then a coat of leather cleaner, a coat of leather conditioner to restore moisture to the leather and then 3 coats of a light brown shoe polish to restore the luster. Since they had heavy coats of dark brown shoe polish I did not want to use the Acetone very heavily as it would have removed the shoe dye as well, so I went for a distressed leather look on them. I think they turned out rather well for an experiment.

These shoes should never have been so mistreated as to require such restoration. Thanks, Obama!

I get some really good shoes that look so tired and dried out that I wouldn't put your dead feet into them. But once I polish them up they come right back to life looking like a million bucks. It is nice to see a pair of shoes shine again.

I love Ballys. Have a small cache. Anything you find in 7.5/8 snag and I'll double your cost + shipping.

And you'll make me happy.

Nice score!
What width are those? They look narrow in the pics. I'd split them out in short order.
Here are a pic of some AE Cody's I snagged for $30 here recently. Not quite as good of bargain as yours. They need a cleaning. These were the shoes that inspired my thread on my dad and shoes. Not wingtips, but what the heck....

I just happen to have a pair of 7.5 mediums that are little worn.

Pics to follow.

I used to just look for shoes that fit. I would find a great pàir that didn't fit and go dam if they only fit as I put them back on the shelf. Then one day I said why am I doing that I can sell them and make some money. So now call me Tabs Bundy. I have sold them to Korea Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, Ukraine, Latvia, Germany, Holland, France, UK, and Canada. Let alone to some posh hoods in the USA. So the next time you see a guy on Rodeo Dr in Beverly Hills in a pair of Ballys you can think hmmm did he get those from TABS?
