Custom-Built Lithium High Performance replacement Batteries

My '13 Fiat Abarth battery just bit the dust (Arizona heat) and it can be replaced under warranty. I've been thinking about not taking Fiat's free offer...and instead a Shorai replacement, however, my research has found this >>>

A Corvette forum has many positive comments about these.... . Lithium starting battery lightweight racing

It needs an oil change too so will do that as well to remain in warranty. BTW, when new I bought a AAA extended warranty for $600...70k mile, 10 year. Presently, 7,756 miles...don't drive it much - another vehicle & 5 motos.

Wait a very short time on LiFePo4. The price is really coming down. I can buy 2.5kWh usable for under $1K now. And LiFePo4 is much safer than most of the regular Lithium Ion flavors (there are a ton). Where the LiFePo4 really sings is current discharge. You can create MASSIVE discharge current with these for starting.

The best cost lead acid is around $500 for 2.4kWh, but you really only get to use 50%. So we are reaching the same territory for lead acid. As far as being "compatible" with lead-acid systems, this is sort of true. I can program a 3 stage lead-acid deep cycle system to work well with a LiFePo4 battery. But the car type constant voltage, even after it is fully charged, charging system will eventually destroy a LiFePo4 battery. It needs a slightly lower charging voltage and it needs to be disconnected when it is full.

"Custom-Built Lithium High Performance replacement Batteries". Why does my brain instantly translate that phrase into "fire"?

I had a 2 hour phone call yesterday with an insurance company and insurance underwriters about the installation of fixed Lithium Batteries in a commercial building. The requirements were quite stringent! Lockable 1 hr fire rated room, not accessible to the public Water sprinklers for fire suppression The 3.7 volt, 3.5 Amp-hour battery in the Note 7 is about 13 Watt-Hours. We are installing almost 250 Kilo-Watt-Hours, about about 4 times that of a standard Tesla car. The insurance company does NOT like the Tesla or the Power Wall.

Yes! You are suppressing a solvent fire, not electrical.
