Very Old Truck Door Identification Help
I purchased this ButterKrust Bread door roughly 12 years ago on eBay. There wasn't any history with it other than it had been sitting in a warehouse for a long time. That's it. There are no manufacturer markings anywhere on the door either.
I cleaned it up and put it up in my garage for a few years and then had it in my office at work - I work for a bread and snack cake company. The company is coming up on its 100 year anniversary and I'm going to donate the door to a museum that's being built. We are trying to figure out what year this would have been made and what kind of truck (or maybe an enclosed wagon??) if possible for the history card. I've scoured Google and haven't come close to finding anything that looks like it. The door stands at 4', has an oak frame, stationary window, steel skin, and a slight bow at the bottom. Most of the doors I've found are straight - now bow. So here I am asking for your help to see if anyone here may have an idea to the vintage or make. Thanks in advance! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's cool. Guessing Model A or Model T panel delivery truck. It can be tough as so much coachwork was truly custom back then. Good luck!

Very cool relic, love that alligator skin texture on the trim.
That's some real patina you got there. As mentioned it may well be part of a coach built, low numbers cab. Good research subject. Unleash the brain trust . Cheers Richard |

I don't think Model A or T, it's a suicide door and pretty well built.

Yea, it is cool.
As other have said it comes from an era of real craftsmen working for cheap. A true bespoke chassis is not unusual. Being all made of wood it is likely something totally custom. It will be interesting to find out about it.

A quick 'google' search finds that ButterKrust Bread was established in 1882. That looks like a very early logo, so I wouldn't be surprised if that isn't one of a pair of back doors for a horse drawn wagon.
Or not.

There is a copy of the September 1912 'National Baker' on the google that has an article about ButterKrust and in it says the patent using these words and with a pic of a milkcan was filed March 17, 1910 which means this was put on a door after that date. Assuming the door was from a newer delivery vehicle, I'd be looking at models around that era.

![]() ![]() I can't locate anything about the back doors, but this vehicle is from 1910.

Model T is always a good guess, as there were so many of them, but the body was almost certainly not made by the chassis manufacturer. There were dozens of companies building bodies for trucks, and that assumes its off of a truck.

Great information and ideas everyone. I never thought about it being a rear door. I found this truck and it has some small similarities.
