Looks good here, nice and clear.
Tomorrow I will be in Catalina on my friend's 80' Elliot The El Tigre I fished on in Alaska this summer. It Should be clear and we will be on the back of the Island so it will be dark. |

You're not really likely to notice that it's bigger without measuring somehow, whether that be with a tool or by taking a photo, and then waiting and taking another photo in 28 days.
It's diameter is only 14% bigger which is squat when looking at a disk in the night sky. Still, a good full moon is a beautiful site to behold. It has been 68 years since the moon appeared this big, and it will be another 18 until it looks this big again.

Woke up early this a.m. and took some pictures as it set over the mountain ridge.
Nothing too spectacular, but fun. The moon really didn't seem that much larger than normal, but brighter and clearer. The best part for me is getting out early and enjoying the clear cold night air, and then watching the sunrise while uploading the night pics.

I saw it last night and early this morning right before sunrise. It was just the same old moon as far as I could tell. I trust the astronomers are correct and it is bigger, but whoopie. No real visible difference.

This is the full range of size variation for the full moon, so from largest to smallest, you're really unlikely to notice much of a difference.

I read yesterday eve. that it's at it's peak at ~6 AM this morning here in AZ, so we sped out to a peak vista site and observed. We were a little late in getting out so as it rose up it wasn't as spectacular as it looked earlier on the horizon...but still good to see.
Went out for a bite to eat after...so it was fun. We'll watch again this eve. on the chaise pool lounges. . Great pics, gents!!!

If you don't think it looks any brighter than normal, you don't look at the moon often enough. When it is high in the sky, you don't have anything for reference. Try holding a dime at arm's length to cover the moon and compare what it looks like in a few months

Went out to see it last night. I was a perfectly clear night and the moon was indeed spectacular, but in my subjective judgement it wasn't much brighter than on other nights when it's been spectacular.

"The moon orbit is elliptical with perigee being 357,000 and apogee 406,000 kilometers (222,000 and 252,000 mi, respectively). Average distance is 381500 km or 237,000 miles.
381500/357000 -> 6.8% closer. Inverse square law shows that being 6.8% closer, it will appear 14.2% bigger." ~~~~~~~~~~~ I was just going to say this.

Too cloudy here to see it last night but this morning's high tide was HIGH. There's usually about a 100 foot wide stretch of sandy beach in front of those posts!
