Good news, you have 24 days to get ready. Three weeks and a couple of days. Ready or not here it comes. It will be Christmas and then News Years in a blink. 2017 in no time.

Thanksgiving is probably one of my favorite days of the whole year....cool, but not cold, the house is warm with a fire going, good football throwing weather with my son. My wife makes the best turkey i've ever had, both sets of prents come over and play cards/watch football, eat alot.

I don't have to do much except move some tables and chairs around, carve the turkey, and say the blessing. The wife, MIL, and relatives within a few hours drive do the shared cooking responsibilities. We will probably host about 30-40 folks.

Mine will be taking my knife sharpener to whatever sibling is hosting and sharpening their knives so I can carve (I'm the oldest, it's tradition that the elder carves). Nobody in my family ever had any sharp knives. Maybe I'll just pound the damn bird with a hammer this year.
End of rant.

Well the food is always good however, I am not looking forward to spending the day with my sisters and my stupid brother in law.
The only reason I go is for my Mother she's 89.....She likes to see us all together with the grand kids.

Back in the olden days when I was single I dated a chick that had the dullest knives I had even seen. They were all just like butter knives, and the butter had to soft.

I sharpened all of her knives and warned her to be careful. She cut herself twice the first time she used a sharp knife. I bet they are all dull as can be again.

The Canucks already celebrated. Second Monday in October. Our harvest is earlier so we say thanks earlier. We started the tradition 43 years before you Yanks. Englishman, Martin Frobisher was looking for a Northern way to the Orient in 1578 but didn't make it. He established a settlement in Newfoundland and declared a day of thanks for a safe journey despite not finding a route. Not as big a deal here as it is down south though.

Eat lots of pineapple and take mosquito repellent.

The pineapples are as good as the mosquitos are bad.
