Dyeing Leather

So I've got this stupid expensive really nice 3 piece leather couch.

The set is in an East exposure room with pretty much a wall of floor to ceiling windows 30 ft high.

Needless to say it faded the couches.

We installed screens a few years back when we first noticed the damage but the appearance of them still bugs me.

Had a guy in a while back to give me an estimate on fixing them and for what he wanted I could have just bought a new set.

Got the expected "well this set has a rare mufongo infused leather that is cured using the urine of 100 virgins in an underground salt mine"

I also have 4 cats with all their claws who tend to leave evidence of their presence which does not bug me terribly since the style of the couch is distressed to begin with.

So brain trust.

What do I have to lose by getting some dye and having at it?

Could I screw this up?

Looking to get back to the medium / dark mocha.

One of the P.o's dyed the seats in the 928 from maroon to grey. Did not even notice until I sold them. I would dye them if your ocd is kicking in too much. Nothing really to lose.

My parents have widows about the same height. Sun faded my mom's piano. While the piano was out being refinished, they had the windows tinted. Not dark, but with a UV blocker. Piano has been fine ever since.

We had UV screens equivalent to tint installed, unfortunately after and due to the damage.

Has not gotten worse since but the damage was already done.

It's one of those things that happens slowly over time so you don't notice it while it's happening till one day you're like

So I'm looking for a dye that lets the leather show.

Think staining wood vs painting it.

Any recommendations?

Leatherique makes some really good leather dye kits, I have used them on seats with excellent results. Also the best oil and cleaner that I have ever used.
