Anyone Using Sling TV Or Similar Internet TV?

I'm interested in semi cutting the cord for TV, but still want access to watch sports. Sling tv looks to be a reasonable option but I'm concerned about the quality of the service. My Uverse just went up to $200/mo and the internet speed is terrible, so I'm looking for other options.

As a former U-Verse customer I feel your pain. We switched to ROKU devices and mainly watch Sling and Hulu . If your internet speed and quality is good then your streaming will be good . Sometimes get some buffering and sometimes have to reset ( push a button ) but overall we are very happy . We are running the " orange " package along with sports package. Even with the price of the internet we are well under 100.00 a month . One thing I like about Sling is it seems to be very user friendly , my wife and I both able to maneuver with little effort .
My youngest son in Orlando uses Googles version and he's happy with that also . When we signed up Sling was offering free and 50 % of pricing on the Roku devices. We have one Roku box ( version 2 I think ) and three streaming sticks the streaming sticks work just as well as the box and are cheaper .

This really bothers me because I know the tech is out there...
Give me fiber optic to my house and a top of the line gaming computer and BAM I could have all the TV and internet I ever need or want...
But every time I look into it too many bottlenecks and everyone wanting a slice of the pie ($$ for programming) just for instance speaking of sports... whatever your team/sport they each have their own network you have to sign up for.

For now I am getting by with Dish Network (low end HD package with DVR $60 a month) and going someplace with free WIFI for internet.

I have sling, Netflix, and prime.

Sling is great but look at the channel listing and make sure it has channels you enjoy first. I like AMC and a&e and travel and food network so I enjoy it.

I have a android TV box with Kodi. They cost about $30. I have everything that is out there. When I say everything I mean every TV show and movie made. English ones that is. I can download all the other languages that are available if I wanted to. I used to pay $120 a month to my cable TV provider to watch commercials. You do need a internet connection.

Playstation Vue, hulu and amazon prime through a variety of devices. PS4 and amazon fire sticks spread through 4 tvs. I really like the playstation vue over the sling as far as the interface and dvr and program saving. However vue just lost access to Viacom programing, so no more comedy chanel, nickelodeon, or spike as well as MTV.

Check the content offered but the vue is still my favorite.

Sling is good. Remember it's one tv at a time. Can't watch on two tv's with one subscription.

Switch your cellphone to T mobile ONE plan which is unlimited data with video and hot spot at 3G speed. Then use your phone as a wifi hot spot for your laptop. I do this when I'm at work and want to use my personal laptop. Works great, costs nothing extra, plenty fast enough for web browsing.

Thanks for the feedback! Worth noting that this would be for three tvs in our house.

You can get a roku (or whatever) on each tv, but only one tv at a time. Same for Netflix and Hulu, Amazon.

I tried sling but they don't have an ap for my LG Smart TV. I'm stuck getting a Roku. I have read comments where people say you can use more than one device at the same time but I can't say for certain if you actually can.

To clarify this, the amazon firestick will allow multiple tvs at the same time with different programing.

Gone to WIFI on internet connect. Bounces to built in ROKU. Bought a 4k 55 inch smart tv for $428. Bought a Mohu Leaf antenna for live broadcast. Will save about $80 a month. I bounce live streaming cable news off utube.

After free trial periods I will probably get Sling or sum such. I want AMC, TCM and FX.

Can any of you get ESPN on your non-cable & non-dish setups?

Which is a big part of the appeal. They also have the various Fox Sports channels. Beyond watching sports I really don't much care about tv, though my wife and kids might disagree with that.

Thats amazing how expensive all those services are in the USA?
We have TV via DVB-T (at no cost).
We pay 35 EUR in total for DSL and landline, 10 numbers, unlimited calls and unlimited internet.
Only 6Mbit available as DSL where I live, but we stream Amazone Prime (Apple TV) and have 1 desktop, 2 laptops, 1 iPad and 4 iPhones plus the Arlo cameras online. And sometimes the kids play with the WiiU. Never had any bandwidth problems.
