Lost enthusiasm for NFL

Trying to stay awake watching another football game. I don't know why I still watch the crap. Used love watch the sport but, it seemed to have evolved into a 3 hour infommercial. I usually, nod off sometime before halftime during a 5 minute commercial break. I especially, don't like the long halftime or stupid commercials during the Super Bowl. The NFL was at its highest enthusiasm when Fronco Harris made the immaculate reception. Doesn't the NFL care about the fan base? I'm not sure if I care for the NFL anymore.

I went down that path 10+ years ago. No regrets. Sadly that slope was slippery enough to claim all pro sports. I do watch MLB and NHL during the playoffs but otherwise I have better things to do.

Most of the league and respective fan bases are tired of losing to the patriots.

Yup!

Grabs my attention during the playoffs|championships but in general not much interested. MLB World Series was fun this year. Mmm feel the same way way about F1. Maybe I've just had a change of interest in general.

Its happened to nearly every major TV sport in the US.

They have a "new" way of working to maximize revenue, it worked short term, but they may be over managing things, and it loses its genuine feel of a sport.

The NFL and NASCAR have perhaps over reached.

Removing the violence has started the slow death. The ridiculous hits are what made it interesting, the idea that these guys were risking their lives made you hold your breath.

Take it to the extreme, would you watch if everything were the same but it was flag football? No....

The concussion stuff was reacted to incorrectly. The league should have said yep, their melons get scrambled every now and again...that's why we pay them obscene amounts of money.

What's next rock and roll without drugs? Good luck selling that turd.

Once in awhile theres a great game but at the rate these guys get paid, I expect better than High School level play.

Deplorable Chicago Bears. Yesterday watched receiver Josh Bellamy blow not one, but two passes - both chances were for the game win. C'mon, the guy gets $760,000 for this year!

Worst drop of the 2016 NFL season cost the Bears a home victory

Yep. Was a big fan, but lost interest several years ago. I haven't been to a game in 10 years and haven't watched a full game on tv in 5 years.

I stopped watching after Brett Favre retired. I miss his showdowns vs Aikman or Young. Those were the days.

*note, I did watch Aaron Rodgers win his Super Bowl, though.

It isn't about whether old geezers lose interest, because as we get older, that can happen. The question is, do young people still watch the game ?

I heard that during a typical NFL game the ball is in play only 11 minutes on average. 11 minutes in 3 hours!

Young people have their noses burried in their phones, and only interested in updating their "status" on social media.

I have found that the cure for insomnia on a cold Sunday afternoon, is a boring NFL game...being a Browns fan this year (and all years) is getting harder.

I gave up on the NFL about 15 years ago. I was a Chicago Bear season ticket holder for over 20 years. No regrets.

I would rather go to a college football game.

You mean around the time they were going to charge you a "personal seat license" to retain you season ticket at the eyesore by the lakeshore?

Its really the classlessness of the people involved, why support that?

It is not a "sport" at all. It is just overgrown men playing a GAME.

They PLAY a few seconds and then have a LONG commercial break, a few seconds of play and another long commercial break. Rinse and repeat.
