I believe it's important that every time Animal Control is called that you get the FULL NAME of the individual you are speaking to.

Dang it, I just heard from my buddy that the pit bull is back, after a month's absence. This time sporting a Seahawks sweater, of all things. Guess the owners didn't see the article about the couple that got mangled by their little love when they tried to put a sweater on him. Oh well, my buddy did note that it didn't appear all that bulletproof...

creaturecat 01-09-2017 03:35 PM

i would use a sharp shovel. pretty formidable weapon.
the sweater will cut down on blood splatter.

strupgolf 01-09-2017 04:46 PM

The BEST pit bull dog, is a DEAD pit bull dog. Nothing more to say.

Jeff Higgins 01-11-2017 07:38 AM

Well, it all kind of came to a head last night. Our cute little Seahawks fan attacked my buddy again, for the third time. He managed to escape into his house, and that's where it got interesting. He did not retrieve a gun and kill it - no, he actually called 911. And they actually responded...

And the poor bastards that showed up to deal with the dog wound up shooting it with first a tranquilizer, then a tazer, then bean bags. They finally grabbed it with their long pole with the noose on the end and managed to get it in the truck. I guess it was quite the little rodeo.

The problem with this "solution" is that the owner can bail him out of dog jail and bring him home. I'm not sure how it works around here if it gets identified as a "dangerous" animal, and what ownership rights are retained, or even if the owner can actually get it back. We'll see...

That is the best turn of events. Nice documented record. A lousy situation to be sure. Good luck to your friend.

Spud 01-11-2017 01:05 PM

Well since your friend "slipped" and wrenched his back trying to get away from the dog I'm sure the owners would be more than happy to pay for his medical bills + pain and suffering.

Usually what happens is that animal control explains to the owner how much trouble he could get in because of the dog: liability, criminal prosecution etc.
the owner says screw that, just keep it and put it down.

Unless he's a real low-life ......

What's the old saying? You can't get blood from a low-life, drug dealing, meth head, destitute cracker? Or was it a rock? Same thing.

See above.

The adorable little muffin is still MIA but, then again, he has disappeared for extended stretches before. Maybe he really is gone for good this time. Who knows... I would, however, bet my bottom dollar he will be gone for good if there is a "next time"...

That video would make JJ Abrams proud!

We had a local farm dog attack our beagle one day and he was pretty beat up. Dad kept a 30-06 by the door once the beagle was well enough to go outside. The second time the farm dog came to the yard dad shot it from outside the front door in town.

At our old house in CA I was attacked by a smaller (30#) dog but our lab killed it before it got to me or I could do anything about it. Another time a neighbors german shepard attacked and I met the sheriff's deputy in the driveway with shotgun in hand and told him next time I would shoot the dog. It ended up attacking another neighbors dog, nearly killing it. That got all the neighbors ticked and the last I knew the owners had a large fine and had to make property repairs or lose the dog. I had honestly thought about tossing some king sized Hershey bars by the back fence where all the neighbor kids walk.

Best idea...the live trap. That way, no shooting. Lots of water places up there, yes?

Rope tied to trap for retrieval...toss in water, wait 10-15 minutes.

Nice & quiet...they'll just wonder where Fido went.

Both are effective and quiet...as is antifreeze.

Cruel? Maybe. But bad dogs (like bad people) have no place in society.

Rikao4 01-18-2017 12:28 PM

it is cruel..
if you don't have the balls to do it right..
stay home and suck your toes..

remember come retribution..
folks could gut shoot you & leave you rolling and moaning..
or put your head in a plastic bag and wait a few minutes..
or blow your brains out..
think I know what you folks prefer..

I'm all for removing the humans who are responsible from our society....humanely of course.

Not the dog's fault.

They do say that. They also say that pig crap looks the same whether it was eating slop or a POS cracker. Works with alligators too.

Por_sha911 10-22-2017 11:52 AM

Pit bulls aren't dangerous. They are just misunderstood.
Massachusetts boy, 7, mauled by pit bulls, cops say | Fox News

I wish we had as much tolerance for owning firearms as we do for these dogs.

Porsche-O-Phile 10-22-2017 01:56 PM

I know probably unintended but your comment is particularly aprospro since the incident happened “south of the border” in MA - probably the most anti-gun state in the country (including CA, IL, NY and HI). Any idiot can own a viscious dog apparently but good luck ever trying to buy or possess a firearm legally there (ask me how I know). It’s a virtual impossibility.

Lowell is largely a dump and it’s not surprising to hear this happened there. Tragic and sad, but not all that unexpected. That city has some pretty rough parts and some that aren’t too distinguishable from a third world country.
