the good stuff of 2016?

several 2016 threads already..none of them very positive(?)

i think '16 kicked ass!! wife got past probie position at work and loves her NEW job. we sold a house, got a cheap apartment in a land of expensive apartments (and month to month), and bought a new house.. my family got it done this year.

i came into a new office and got to show off my skills. now? i get all the big projects that require serious brain-work. i think my boss thinks i'm the "smart one". yikes..okay, this is a bit scary.

clean bill of health for everyone. and made a bunch of new friends..and most importantly, found a new guy friend that shares the same attitude towards hunting..we are going a lot now. (he isnt flaky) and our wives get along famously.

and my mom is getting it together. she is finally bouncing back from the loss of her second husband.

if 2017 is better..i am gonna be loving it..

Let me see what I can come up with; 2016 was mostly a work for next year, finished design projects delayed in production cycle, so from a work standpoint, it feels (to me) like I did a whole lot with nothing to show for it.

I got an unasked for raise.

We didn't get Hillary for our next president.

When my '86 944 broke a driveshaft I could afford to fix it.

Discovered battle dress uniform pants are really comfortable, tough, low maintenance, and really make an improvement to my lifestyle switching over to them.(Thanks Sabaton)

I had dropped book reading habit a few years ago, 2016 started it back, that is a good thing.

2016 was basically carrying out the trash at my corp. We did a reset last year and identified a lot of dead weight, half finished projects, misc loose ends, contractors we didn't need, etc and got rid of them. We are starting 2017 cleaner with less corporate and physical clutter.

We had a good year. I picked up several cool motorbikes for my collection. We visited a bunch of new countries and all the traveling was successful. Everyone is healthy. We made a decision to end our perpetual retirement and start attacking life again. That transition is going well.

2017 is on and crackin'

2015 was a year that had some crucial breakthroughs, and then 2016 seemed boring, but honestly very crucial as well. Hit several milestones, and broke ground on the new "office". 2017 will get all the glory, but couldn't do it without 2015 and 2016.

2016 The good:

daughter gradumacated college,
made more $$$ than any year previous,
got rid of toys and cars
work was OK.

2016 The bad:

dog died.
Lots of unexpected health problems.
$90k in withholding
Damn kids won't stay off my lawn.

I don't believe 2016 was that much different than any other year I've seen ...............

I guess if you concentrate on the possative, it was a good year;

-I made $5000 more this year than any other year's salary.
-FIL made it through triple bypass open heart surgury, and is recovering nicely.
-The Cleveland Indians gave me some thrills in the world series.
-My family is in fairly good health after battling Bronchitis for a month or two.
-I traded off a crappy Saturn sedan on a 2004 triple black Mustang GT vert.
-My senior son played his heart out on the football field, and got regional accolades for it.
-My daughter finally met a nice guy, and has a promise ring for the future.
-Hillary lost, and Obama soon to leave.
-O-H-I-O

The daughter getting out of college give you a BIG raise unless she was a on a free ride scholarship or you have a replacement kid to take her place in college.

Good point, even though it was a state university it weren't cheeeep with her living away from home.
My son heads off to college next year and he didn't apply to any state universities, but at least I get a year betwixt.

Cheapest way I could end up is if he decides to go to UCLA.

for some reason he likes that school!????
