Or must I hesitate....

Yeah, I think Amazin Blaze has got the job. He can weld the crack of dawn and spider's webs.

Charles Freeborn 01-07-2017 07:52 AM

I would, however consider whoever did these...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1483807949.jpg

Or maybe this shop: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1483808421.jpg

The other one, while highly skilled, is an abortion. Who designs something like that?

This one is a work of art!

That one would concern me from what came be seen from this angle. There's a lot of fill and not much apparent penetration into the part.

It's the angle. I did spend more time on the arm than the U-tab because it's thicker but there is plenty of tab penetration.

Where I work you would have to grind out and repair that slag inclusion/void in the start...but I doubt you will die if you don't.

If I Need Any Welding Done

I weld, but I would never hire me.

Do you know why it did that? What happened there? Only one of the 4.

It's usually contamination of some sort. I get it with TIG when I haven't wirebrushed with a clean stainless brush and washed with solvent.

Shaun @ Tru6 01-07-2017 12:15 PM

OK, thanks, proves that like everything else, surface prep is everything. I'll clean with acetone next time. Arm was bead blasted, tab was wire brushed. Dollars to donuts there was contamination from the blast cabinet, I had some Pagoda engine parts in there just before doing this. I do several acetone baths before Cerakote, will do the same in welding.

I really have to learn how to TIG.

Good stuff that is. I gotta figure a way to count that as a safety video for the shop.

It's probably a welding demonstration of some kind. I can't imagine it being functional.
