" Let's find the one gun that fits my hand perfectly."

...this morning's email message from my g/f.
We're going to the range this week sometime...I've got the itch to shoot and so does she.
.
Anyway, what little I know I'd probably go a shop and look at a Ladysmith first off.
G/f is 5' 5" and has the usual lady hands.
She's shot my S&W .38, 4" air weight and is not afraid of it...has it stuffed between her mattress and bed frame, holstered. As I recall she's even shot my 1911, and a few others. Tough little cookie, she.
She wants to go Concealed Carry soon.
Any advice from the wisdom pool?
Don't ask me what she likes/wants - auto or wheel...tell me what's good.
I may suggest that she sign up and chat with y'all.
.

I'd suggest you take her to a good gun shop, let her handle choices in the caliber you desire.

Maybe we need to find a shop or a range where she can shoot a few, eh?
Hmmm.........

I have smaller hands (wore size 7.5 surgical gloves when i worked in a hospital) and the CZ 75b series fits my hand great. If I were lookign for a CC piece, I'd check out the CZ RAMI in BD flavor (decocker instead of safety).

My wife actually shoots better with our Springfeild armory 45 ACP, but the size and weight eliminate it from CCW. She bought a really nice Sig 9 for her to carry.

A little J frame S&W revolver in .38 Special with a pair of laser grips might work. Myself, I would forgo the laser, though. No need in a defensive firearm - things happen too close and too fast.

Can't remember if she shot that one or not.

No laser...thought of that as well. Just thinking of popping an intruder in a dark bedroom.

Airweight .38 is tough to beat. S&W bought Crimson Trace, as I understand it. They have grips for it with an integral laser, pretty slick.

Seems like in Arizona, you would have no shortage of guys you could meet at the range and do some test drives on someone else's piece.

Thought of that, too...mooching a few shots off others' guns.
I'll have to take out every hand gun that I own and drag them out there for her...except for a few 8" barreled revolvers.
Thanks, gents.
.
She's Googling now...seems to be quite serious.
.
I am Googling too...been reading about how most women are nudged toward the snub-nosed revolvers and yet those are not the best for women, in most cases.

I think a lot of the "does it fit my hand" is what is the natural aim angle for her hand.

The angle of the grip/magwell for the 1911 and the 1903/1908 fit my hand very well. The Glock, not so much.

I'll put another vote for the lady smith or some flavor of S&W 38 <3" barrel. They just always go bang.

On the semi-auto side of things, especially if she's thinking about concealed carry, something like the LCP or TCP are very small and easy to carry. Something that still should work, but is a bit bigger, Springfield Armory XDS is a single stack 9mm as are Glock 43 and S&W M&P Shield 9mm. All great guns. For something a little different, and frankly a bit sexier, the Sig Sauer P938. I'd love to have one myself.

I think there are probably similar guns made by CZ (like the gun posted by Id10T), Kahr, Walther, etc....

For instance, in the Sig Sauer world, there's the P938, P238, P290 and P250 some of which are similar to some of the others already mentioned.

Sig's P290 is an excellent little 9mm pistol. But it only holds 6 x 9mm. She might as well have a 5 or 6 shot wheel gun with 38 spl, which will go bang every time.

We have a couple of indoor ranges that have a wide variety of guns you can check out and shoot to find what you like.
