Skiing around Lake Tahoe in April, suggestions?

Our 10 year old daughter has no school the week before Easter, April 8-16th and since Tahoe has had epic snow this year, we were thinking of going up during her break to ski for 4 or so days. Any thoughts on how the snow will be in a month?

Any recommendations on resorts and places to stay? I got a suggestion to check out Northstar, Squaw, and Heavenly, but thought I would ask the braintrust here. Our daughter can handle the blues no problem, but I would like to be able to go off and ski some more challenging slopes.

Thanks!
Neil

Northstar is a great family resort and Squaw has some great terrain. Both are up on North shore. Since Heavenly is south shore I would stay up north and ski there. Gives you options. (ps I worked in the ski industry for 20 years)
April you might get some weather. Northstar is more in the trees if the weather goes bad. Squaw more exposed.

The first ski trip for my daughter at age of 5 was North Star......We pull up in front and my wife runs in to get lift tickets and 2 ski instructors ask me if my daughter was going to take a lesson.... and they took her away to ski school, Wife returns and asked where our daughter was and could not believe they took our daughter away in the parking lot. It turned out our daughter was the only student in school and had 2 instructors. Buy the end of the day our daughter was a very good skier. Mount Rose was also a nice Family slope also.

Northstar is now very upscale, has great snowmaking (in case it starts getting hot), nice views. North shore in general gives more options. I really like Sugar Bowl, son has season pass there. Alpine is my sentimental favorite, many a turn at Squaw. Been skiiing there since 1980.

None of that skiing is cheap anymore up there including Mammoth. those cheap tickets, ski bum days are over in CA.

I like Heavenly only because its so close to everything. Great restaurants and lots more things to do compare to other resorts around the lake. Even if you ski up northern parts of the Lake, the drive down to South Tahoe is not too far a drive. The time going back and forth is work a whole lot to me.

All the resorts in Tahoe have epic snow and will likely be open until May. Most have very good intermediate skiing with Heavenly the most groomed and also the most crowded. If you like steep and deep take a little drive to Kirkwood about 30 minutes away. High elevation, less crowds, and excellent black diamond territory.
