Not to be argumentative and I don't have any inside information, but I really don't think there are all these unsold carry-over RVs sitting around on lots. Do a search on RVTrader or stop by a local RV dealer - it's all 2017/2018s. You might see a few 2016s still around, but that's about it, no different than car lots. If they're out there, we sure couldn't find any during our several month nationwide search for a 5th wheel last year. In fact, most of what we were interested in were sold out and had to be ordered.

And MSRP on RVs is totally meaningless. A 5th wheel brand new latest model with an MSRP of, say, $120,000 has an out-the-door price of $80,000 without even negotiating. Even when ordering new from the factory.

Friends parents have an older upscale RV. When they are not traveling it sits under a RVport (as opposed to carport except larger) on built in jack stands with covers that go over the wheels to keep UV out. It also has hookups to home's utilities/water/sewage. Don't know if motor, etc. is cycled or run every so often, but they have never had any problems with it in the 20 years I've know them.

Don't think I haven't done that. RV sales are big business in AZ. Lots of rich Germans come over and buy them, drive around the western US for a while and then flip them.

In Florida you can tell what season it is by watching the direction of the RV traffic on I-75 and I-95.

And like Hugh said, there tend to be 2 types of used RVs: immaculate and filthy trashed junk. We wound up buying used at about 25% the cost of an equivalent new unit. It's a 2010 and had been towed to an RV resort when new where it stayed until they sold it. It was their vacation home used once or twice a year. Literally, like brand new.
