+1 Brain twinkies are more fun.

Who needs to solve a damned thing when there is Pewdiepie on Youtube.

I can't help you there but I'm sure there must be a few sexy woman voices you can pick from, maybe don't be so specific (or try using the actress name?).

I just use the British female voice in Waze

Yeah, I think I've looked into that before (not "Friday", but a change), and I think we're stuck with (on Apple, at least) the built in male and female voices.

I was so stoked that Waze had the Top Gear guys doing the direction for Waze for a bit. I downloaded and used the app just because of that. What I didn't realize was that it was a limited time thing. I'm bummed. I'd pay $1 just to get their voices back. I've pretty much quit using Waze just because they aren't the voice any more. But I have to say, the Waze traffic avoidance and incident reporting does seem superior to Apple or Google.

I like to play a game. I set a route in my GPS and see if I can beat the time by using my knowledge of local routes. I usually do.

I used to memorize phone numbers. But back then, phone numbers only had 4 digits. (Small town, local service.)

I would like to think the memory I save from not remembering phone numbers are used for better things.

I have been in this city for more then 45 years of my life and have been to almost every corner of socal before GPS. I know this city very well, and refuse to use GPS but I usually find my way, but to get to a certain address, I give in and have to look at Goggle map. I get around OK. Anything that has to do with numbers? Forget it. I must write it down. At 50, my short term memory is going or I no longer make it a point to remember them.

When driving around the metro area I can get around fine if I have an address. The real challenge is some neighborhoods. They can be illogical and deliberately set up to not be friendly to strangers. I will give up and whip out my phone to get me in it out of some neighborhoods. Once I am back to a main road I turn it off.

Technology will allow people to free up useless memory hogs so that (hopefully) more time can be applied to solving real problems.

If you aren't willing to adapt, you better hope you die off before it becomes even more pervasive. I'm doing everything I can to try and think a few years ahead because if you blink you are already behind. The future is scary and uncertain but there is no stopping it, like it or not.

They are telling us that the technology and digitalization will bring up free time for us to be more creative. Yeah, sure, I will sit here, doing 50% less work and be 50% more creative, sure, my company will allow that to happen! I am sure 50% of the people will have to leave the company instead and I will have 100% work again.
BS at a high Level IMO!

We have the Industriemesse here in Hanover right now. Industry 4.0, Robots, Cobots and what not.
They interviewed the target industry, the middle class companies. They told the reporters that robots are not what they are looking for in any way, it is just a hype, just like the digitalization. Most of them still receive the orders by fax, email or phone. And they see no need to change that at all.

When I go to one place in town, my (Garmin) GPS always wants me to take a small service road there that has been closed for over a decade. Anyone know how to remove that road?

This has been the promise for 100+ years. The washing machine was supposed to make life simpler because we no longer had to spend a full day doing the week's laundry by hand. We have invented to problems to fill the void.

This stuff has the potential to really ruin the human civilization. I'm an old guy and tech is already ruining my ability to think on my feet and solve problems quickly and efficiently.

I can't get anywhere efficiently without my GPS. Use a paper map while riding a motorbike? No thanks.

I don't know anyone's phone number.

I can't remember most people's birthdays.

It goes on and on. I can see a day in the not too distant future when most human's minds are just mush. Their embedded intelligence units will be doing all their thinking for them.
I only use paper maps on my bike trips EXCEPT when I need to find fuel. Of course I ended up in Tennessee when I thought I was in NC last year but what the hey, I found a great chicken shack!

I have the free Waze app and Jeremy Clarkson's voice is still there... at least it was before I switched to the female voice.

OK, I presume you are speaking in a metaphor. The brain is no more a muscle than the liver is. No doubt one can forget how to solve problems or do complex things if you stop doing them regularly. That does not make the brain a muscle.
