Never put anything on the roof of your car.....

Put it on the front hood, so you can see it fly off, and land in the rear view mirror.....

...and the car behind you swerve to hit it.....

LMAO!!!

Customer handed me his cel phone on a job site to talk to contractor overseeing the job. He walked away. I finished the call then went to do what I had to. I put his cel phone down on my front hood. Figured he would walk back over and grab it.

I finished my tasks, packed the back of my truck up and left. He did not grab his phone and I could not see it from my seat. My helper could but was too busy with his face in his phone to notice it.

The phone made it 3 miles to a round about before it lost its grip. I got a call a mile after that from a random number asking if I had his phone withe me. Doh!!

U-Turn, run back and see it as I am entering the round about.

I bring it back to him, smashed unrecognizable brand new iphone. It was still linking with his watch and was functioning. You just could not see the screen on it.

He had insurance, laughed it off and never said another word about it. I felt horrible.

He was uber wealthy this was just a minor irritation for him.

I delivered pizzas out of high school. I remember leaving a pizza, a hoagie and a 2 litre of pepsi on the roof of my camaro. Got to the house and had that oh shoot moment, there is no food in the bag. Wouldn't you know it , pizza is still on the roof, and the hoagie and 2 litre rolled back to the little wing on my decklid. Did not loose a thing.
Had this buddy who was a complete slob. His car was a disgusting mess. He had left a Big Mac on the roof of his car on a hot day, and it sort of melted into the roof panel. We harassed him and made jokes about it for months.
Well, he ran into some legal troubles and ran away to Ocean City Maryland to be an under the table bartender till things cooled off at home .
A few months after he left, my buddy Ed and I set out to find him, we knew roughly the area he was living in.
We get down there late at night, and we spot what we think is his car. That damn hamburger was still on his roof . We nearly peed ourselves laughing .

Jim Clark was once disqualified from a race when the inspector set his empty styrofoam cup on the roof of the car and it dented the roof. They had acid bathed the body thinning the metal and repainted it. Got it a bit too thin.

My wife has left a cell phone on her roof.....twice. First time she got lucky and it hung on, the second time it was a pile of pieces by the time she found it. I'm really good at leaving hotel coffee cups on the roof of rental cars, really nice when you get a white one.

My mom drove off with her Tag Heuer on the roof of her car. She never found it.

One fun thing to put on the roof of your car? On April 1, a fast food drink cup empty, with a strong magnet inside. Keep the lid & straw intact. Drive around town slowly, smile & wave to those trying to get your attention...

I call BS.....

A empty styrofoam cup is not denting any roof that can survive being driven.

When I bought my Carrera 3.0 tub, I got about 10 miles up the road and realized that I couldn't find my phone. I knew it had to be with me because my Bluetooth showed 4 bars of coverage.

I pulled over and found it sitting on my flat deck trailer, right where I set it down when we were loading up the tub.

This includes the gag with Letterman driving around with a bag of groceries attached to his trunk lid. Push the player over to 2:58.

"It's gonna fall off!"

"No, I'm not going on the freeway, it'll be fine."

I once drove 35 miles with a large stack of unstrapped lumber on my rack.

Yikes ! Never try to load without strapping, never unstrap without unloading completely.

The rear window wing/tail on a 944 is a great place to leave stuff if you want to go for a drive and not lose it. Probably safer than in the car.

In 2001 I bought a new Monte Carlo SS. That winter me and a buddy take it skiing. On NYS thruway decide to see how fast it goes at 100 there's a loud noise both my buddy an me watch in rearveiw miriors as the roof rack with both sets of skis does a 360 10' in the air. All cars behind us swerve the rack that goes above the car behind us lands on a snow bank in the center of the road than shots across highway in front of traffic. Hits a snow bank on the other side goes airborne for about 20 feet into a field. Hit nobody no car damage one binding broke and some minor road rash on skis and rack. Ended our ski day but gave us a story we still talk about.

I can be very absent minded, with the long work hours and bad weather. I've driven off in the truck with the water cooler not strapped down, and towed the 18K lbs tractor with the pintile hitch not closed, and another time with the toolbox lid down (open). I'm always very lucky, never had a wreck, but regularly loose soda bottles, thermos bottles, and the like off the back of the vehicle.

My dad once drove off with the cat on the top of his car. People were honking and pointing to the roof. The cat was clinging to the roof like the TV show "TJ Hooker".
