What are the MUST HAVE tools that you have in your garage. These are the tools or garage gadgets that you probably use the most when working on your vehicles. Let's share with the community on what your secret tool of choice is in your garage.

I'll start us off with my must have - the QuickJack. I have minimum head room and limited space in my garage so jacking up my vehicle all at once makes projects for my car much easier. Jacking up each corner by corner to get all 4 wheels off the ground is a thing of the past with this unit. It's been a great investment. I don't have an image of mine in use so using one from our 911SC.

Heat and AC in the garage, scissor lift, air compressor and impact tools, beer fridge, bathroom in the garage. Crazy amounts of lights. Sound system. Ceiling fans.

Oh and tool box with 45 years collection of tools.

Back in the days of points replacement (remember those?), I found this screw driver indispensable.

I've got one of those...same reason. Today? Nothing "must have"...I no longer wrench on cars much. Most recent tool use was servicing my air cooled lawnmower.

A really nice fine tooth, soft handle, flex had ratchet is my favorite tool. Its closer to a basic tool than a luxury, but did shade tree mechanic stuff for a few years without one. I think this is the only tool I would pay full on snap on retail to replace if I had to

I got my first headlight shortly before I went from house to apt, so not much use in the garage, but I have used the heck out of the headlight for many, many things. Super useful tool, and if i was still wrenching on my own car, that would probably be a prime use for it.

I great ratchet, preferrably with the toggle switch (as pictured) vs rotating switch is great. I also really found these to be extremely useful.



I had an old low profile aluminum racing jack back before they got cheap at Harbor Freight. That was also useful.

I loved having an air compressor, but I got more use out of it for home repairs/upgrades than I did working on the car.

A comfy low profile creeper is also nice.

Air compressor. Mine failed recently, and now I have the parts to fix it.

1 a good breaker bar
Shaefers oil penatrol 90 penatrating oil. It is way better than blaster, WD40 or anything
If you can find it near you get a can. It costs more but it is well worth the price!
A good assortment of hammers. (I work on class 8 trucks too and they come in handy)
A good floor jack. 4 ton hein Werner from the 60s or 70s and a 25 ton bottle jack air over hydrolic.

vintage bottle opener..the old ones that you used to punch triangle holes in cans.

A neo magnet duct-taped to a carpeter's pencil. The tape allows the magnet to flop around. Picks up lost nuts and washers in all the hard spots.
