Maybe it was left inside during the last tire change?

You could have convinced me if it was a 1/4". 5/16", no way.

that is bizzare, did it tear up your wheel well or anything?
T least if if was a 10mm or 12mm you would have a consolation prize, 5/16 doesnt get used much at my house

I was taking the day off from work, going turkey hunting.... when I hear this thumping noise. I pulled over to see what was up under my truck and didn't see anything. I got back in... started driving and hear it again. I got out and looked at the pass side rear, nothing.... then I hear air coming out. I looked around and the wrench was hitting my mud flap!!! WTF???!!!

Looks like it got drug and one one of the sides of the open end wrench got ground down to a point. That's a shame, a waste of a perfectly good wrench!

Maybe some jackhole leaned it into your tire and you drove off.
5/16 is 8mm in my world...

I think my front tire kicked it up. The wrench is in great shape, my Michelin wasn't.

I had similar happen to me in a little pickup... except it was part of a rotted tree branch, about 2" in diameter, stabbed right in. When I went to pull it out, the stick fell apart in my hand.

I once picked up one of the company trucks after service and stopped on the way back to fuel, check oil, etc. Tilted the hood and saw a wrench resting on the front of the block. Why it hadn't fallen onto the road, I don't know. I took it back and presented it to the shop foreman with a recommendation. ![]() Best Les

I had a rack of sockets resting on the intercooler of my subaru for around 5000 miles for a complete oil change interval. I was very happy to discover them, I thought I had lost them.
I think I may have been too aggressive with my malted barley re-hydration routine during the initial oil change.

Manufacturing defect. The tire company should pay for that

The wrench is not the issue.
Were you able to put the spare on by yourself?
