Where to sell expensive wall clock?

We have a Howard Miller Focal Point clock that belongs to my Mom. My Father, who passed last December, purchased it but Mom never really cared for it. I was going to throw it up on Craigs list but after a brief internet search I discovered these things are pretty spendy new. Like $9K spendy... My wife and I think it's ugly as hell but that is beside the point.

So the clock needs a tune up, after being moved a couple times it stopped working and sat in storage. Local clock shop quoted us $550 for the tune up and cleaning...wow. So my questions

- Recommendations on how to market and sell this thing?
- Should we pay for the tune up prior to selling? I'm thinking no, if it gets shipped to new seller it might need to get re-adjusted anyway.
- Price. New on Amazon they are $9K, so what is the used value for something like this? $5K or $5?

Edit - here is a used example I just found while writing this post.

Etsy - Howard Miller

I figure there must be someone here who knows folks that deal with stuff like this. Many thanks for your thoughts, good or bad

ebay it...and wait for your fish.

If it retailed for 9K then half is what it sold for, 4500 and about half of that for being used...2250 is a good idea to think about.. so list for 2500 or 2750...on a buy it now obo.

BTW you need to get it working...or really discount it heavily. $550 seems outa line. these are not rocket sceince ya know.

You can buy pretty nice traditional Grandfather Clocks on ebay for an amazingly cheap price.

Thanks your thread reminded me to wind my clocks! I'm with you and your wife. It's not the most attractive clock I've ever seen.
As far as the cleaning tab that does seem high. Sounds like Chelsea. I have a ships clock they want $500.00 just to look at the thing. I took that and another clock to a shop in Lancaster Pa. He does amazing work and very inexpensive. I think the Chelsea cleaning, (and a spring had broke), was under $300.00. Shop around.
