Photobucket -3rd party linking -anyone else Screwed

Anyone else screwed over with the new photobucket policy change - all image links - replaced with their Buy P500 upgrade?
Free for all these years and all images embedded from past crash unless you pay $400 a year

Started downloading all my albums to host them else wear, what a pain.

I have another photobucket account that is not effected; but it has my older outdated images.

Ken, yes the same thing happened to me. Super frustrating! I tried starting accounts with a few other image hosting sites, but none of them seem to have the ability to resize large images. Somehow photobucket automatically does it perfectly for forums. So I started a new photobucket account to continue posting my pictures. Still very upset that all my past threads with photos are now useless

I started a imgr and Flickr account neither are optimal. I can see using Flickr for now basically the images are"posts" as they call them and i can get to the img links, takes me a few more clicks. You can get to the the links to up-post to ebay If backspace some of the link path out.

The Flickr will generate an embed album like a click through slide show -only works on Pelican site.

Use imgur, I've used it for years, no issue and it links all of my photo's in bulletin boards and I can pick which one's I want and it autobuilds the html code for any site you want to post to. Love it.

Best of all, it's free and imgur is not going anywhere. You can build an album, then create a link to it, publish the album like any image below, or embed it into any bulletin board.

Once you sell something, delete it from imgur and it's gone from any site you had it linked to. I have it linked to my google account, so it's ez-pz when taking photo's, and uploading them to the site with the smartphone app.

Yep ... just started happening with me. Not an issue on Rennnlist where you can drag image into post but on sites that require IMG/URL code it is a pain. Annoying.

thanks for heads up re imgur

I never download directly to photobucket. I use software that came with my Nikon D2X, Picture Project. Nice program, has automatic correction on individual pics or bulk. And, it's easy to crop and resize, byte-wise, pictures for Ebay or Craigslist ads. Just missing that all-important URL part! Damn you Photobucket~!

So you can see the pdf? That surprises me .. is the pdf file super sized too? If the photo is super sized it just means that you would need to reduce the file size/resolution before embedment which is a hassle but not too bad. I'll try and see if there is an easy way of doing that.

pdf

The PDF showed up fine but seems to be linked to word online so prob not a true .pdf but a hosted image of a .pdf as far as whats being shown. It worked fine earlier and now seems to be locking up- but now back up , and probably why some admins limit scripting... .
I guess we see what happens here. Admins , only trying to do good.
The 944 image clearly shows 2034 and 1453 in the image link, that is why its coming on so large needs to be closer to 600 x 400 to display with out needing to scroll .

Thanks Ken for the feedback. I was amazed that the pdf worked. I'll look at how to reduce the res on the photo. What is good to know is that Onedrive url embedment links are working. They didn't used to ... so Microsoft must have added a little value at last. Would, be even better if they automatically adjusted to the res to suit forum posting like pbucket used to. Small steps

Just for info for those with access to the slowly improving MS onedrive ... if you highligt the file and right click you get an option to embed which creates a URL code ... there is now an option to adjust image size - Medium = 660px which seems to work well. I have edited pics above.

Regarding those photo hosting sites: they will all go the paid route someday.

In my forums the admins and moderators have a one-click-button in every post that copies the external hosted images to my servers and changes the imagelink in the posts.

Well photobucket finally got me today. So I am transferring all my photos to Flickr however I am having trouble posting photos using flickr.

When I click share the only one that works is the BBCode. The BBCode is a huge thing of text. I have to delete most of it so only the image shows up. Is there not a direct link that I can use for my flickr photos?

Here is a just the photo after I delete the other stuff.

[/url]

Here is the full code

Flickr

Yea I battle with the same on Flickr- That image - its content looks awesome thanks for the inspiration as I am needing to do some work on my 911...

I normally need to delete everything on both sides of the
[img] your image.jpg[/img]

Right now I am keeping all my albums on my hard drive and only loading specific images to Flickr as a testing ground. The album slide show works pretty good in Flickr but only on the Pelican forum , Rennlist / 944.com / SPEC /924.org the Flickr slideshow album fails as they are blocking scripting

I also started an imgur account and plan to see how that linking works for me The post in this thread looks like it may be better for single image posting

Same thing happened to my photobucket account. They wanted $300+ a year to link my photos to third part sites. I've had that account for well over 10 years. It took me about 30 seconds to delete the whole thing.
