How about some GOOD news: Coffee leads to longer life

Coffee leads to longer life and better health, study says | Fox News

Quote:
Two new studies reveal that drinking coffee can have long term health benefits, and the more cups the better.

One study determined that drinking one cup of coffee daily reduced the risk of death from heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, respiratory and kidney disease by 12 percent, and by 18 percent for those drinking three cups a day.

Next week , it will be found to cause cancer, and a third testicle. My doctor is telling me to lay off the coffee. I've toned it down to one-2 cups per day .

The obvious statement is every single human is a little bit different in the way their body responds to what we eat and drink. My wife can get woozy and tipsy on one beer. I am a bit less sensitive to beer.

My MIL was no doubt was addicted to caffeine for a while. She was up to a full pot of coffee per day. She finally tried to quit and had horrible head aches. Now she acts like caffeine something to avoid. No coffee for her.

I do know if I am going to my doctors office for anything to avoid coffee before the visit. It does raise my blood pressure and they get all weird about that. With no coffee before the visit it is fine. I have a couple cups of coffee with breakfast and I am done for the day.

For awhile I got crazy with taking my BP 4 or 5 times a day... I noticed that if I stopped drinking coffee it would take 4 days to get my BP to 120/70 plus or minus a bit. Couple of times it was 110/60. With coffee it would be 130/80 plus minus.

I figured it took 4 days to wash the Caffeine out of my system. I like my coffee in the morning so it is a trade off.

I drink coffee, but just got diagnosed with AFIB. No longer life with it? Oh...just remembered that I'm 73. Maybe I've already had that longer life.

I drink a couple in the morning, one at lunch, and one in the late afternoon.

My blood pressure and pulse are very low even after a couple of strong cups. I have to drink a lot of water in the Summer though. Coffee doesn't really keep me hydrated.

I only drink coffee in the morning but this might inspire me to drink a second pot!

And yes, in a few weeks/months they will be telling us it is bad for you.

Does the opposite... actually dehydrates you...

Common knowledge... coffee is a diuretic. Makes you pee more than normal.

(Suppresses your anti-diuretic hormone.)

I stopped reading about the pros & cons of coffee/caffeine about 10 yrs. ago. It always seemed (to me at least) articles would come out about every 3 mos. or so extolling the benefits or expounding the negatives of same. Soooo......I'm off to the kitchen for my 2nd morning cup.

Cheers
JB

I'm dead in the water if no cup 'o Joe in the morning...make that 2 cups.
I used to drink my coffee out of a soup mug...but lately a small cup.
.
At this moment I'm brewing up Fig leaf tea...not sure about the stimulation but it's supposed to be good for diabetes.
