another project,

1970 GTX, fairly beat-up, has 440, buildsheet, and orig Bill of sale. Doable I guess but a fair bit of work.

It'll keep a few guys busy, for awhile

That's a fairly popular, somewhat rare car that looks to be in good shape! Great candidate for restoration,, (IMHO)

Is that Petty Blue?

It doesn't look too bad to me if that sort of work is your thing.

i'll get a look at the build sheet when it comes and will post it if anyone's interested. It does look like petty blue but not sure if that's what it goes by.

Your car looks a little darker, nice project. Is it a 4 speed?

Nice, the automatic in that car is bomb proof. The little gadgets on the grill and around the lights might be tough to source.

If it has the pop up hood scoop, don't park it outside or it will be gone.

That's awesome.

Just pull a Freiburger & Finnegan on it and drive it.

In all its glory.... It would be funny if this was the same car. Its looks like the OP's car may have had a vinyl top at one time. The classic rust around the rear window corner looks like its possible.

Awesome find. Post pics. Very few see these cars, when they are 50 years old.

I always thought the GTX's were a much better looking car than the RoadRunner, of course it was much more costly when new. Also if I remember correctly - very low production numbers. By having the build sheet - even w/o the OE block - is golden.

Good luck with your journey - there is a lot of pain, money but also pride and accomplishment in preserving modern history, people of a certain age - our culture.

Why do you say it doesn't have the OE block...??

'70 GTX came w/ 440 or 426, IIRC.

It had the 440 magnum with air grabber, aluminum intake with 750 holley and headers and was very strong.

If that aero package could net them another 20 mph and provide enough downforce to keep the car on the road, then it was truly a magnificent work of engineering.

My read of the OP was the car had 440, but did not state it was born with numbers matching 440 block. If the drivetrain is OE / numbers matching it's usually the first thing that's reported. Possibly he could clarify......

I think it is the original engine, will sort that out a little later.

Here's a few more pics especially the hood scoop, which is reverse style and has "440" written on the inside, for driver to see.
