We had 97% clear skies for where I am in Houston from the start of the eclipse until it's peak at 66%. A cloud came past just after the peak, it cleared up a few mins later, but I didn't need to see the sun come back, besides, that would have involved leaving the apt. I was able to watch from 1145-1320 from out of our window.

You can see some sunspots in this one. With your eyes the sunspots were MUCH darker and more distinct and you can see a lot more detail in them.

Visiting my son in Blacksburg, Va. About 97% totality. Temperature drop was very dramatic. I'm glad I watched it, may be my last.

Once the massive storm passed I was able to see the eclipse at maybe 90%. Pretty cool.

A little darker here in Atlanta but not too bad. It was almost an early twilight.

My wife was in charleston but it was overcast with a storm coming in.

I think we had the same storm, but immediately afterwards. 88% here, and actually no different than the low light of the storm clouds.

In MN we were only going to get 82 percent coverage.

It was very cloudy, but got to see the sun right at the start and it peeked out of a small spot in the clouds at its highest point for literally about 30 seconds and then mostly cloud cover with a couple glimpse.

Never got dark at all, no more than a gloomy day.

Was foggy in my town, so I jumped in the car and drove about 30 minutes north/inland. Amazing number of people on the shoulder of the freeway doing the same.

Was able to get a reasonable view of our partial eclipse through my binocular contraption:

Dude! You're supposeta take the filter off during totality!

The wife and I looked at it through binocs during totality. Really enjoyed the whole thing.

The box I made with a filter window for the binocs was okay, but not really worth the trouble (partly because it was so tough even finding it through 10X50 viewing).

I ditched it and had a piece of film I looked through with my eyeglasses on during the 7 mins. preceding totality and my sweetie had a pair of "glasses" she wore over her eyeglasses. We then traded off the binocs back and forth until totality ended.

Clear skies in our area, but there was a rainstorm about 5 miles to the Southeast... those people missed it.

St George, SC crappy weather but 100% totality, very cool. We were sitting on a bench in town on the main drag, the street lights came on one by one it was pitch black for a minute or so and then the street lights started turning off. Very strange, getting very dark quickly just before and then just as quickly getting lighter again.
We drove up from Florida, spent the night in Savannah, was worth it.

President Trump stares straight into solar eclipse without glasses*
President Trump stares right into solar eclipse without glasses - NY Daily News

There is always going to be somebody that doesn't listen.

It did not get that dark in Michigan, sort of a pre-storm like sky with stark shadows.

Beware: A solar eclipse can blind you

Statistically, about half of those who are diagnosed with eclipse blindness will recover full vision in six months, he said. The other half either partially recover or are stuck with the problem for the rest of their lives.
