Say it ain't so, maybe 12 to 15" of rain over the weekend here on the TX coast

Best get your waders and canoes out if you live anywhere near the coast as they are predicting massive amounts of rain in many areas over the weekend. As always, it is feast or famine when in comes to rainfall around here.

Yep.
Very slow moving storm, they think there will be a fair amount of surge and flooding, although I assume a big part of it is where it hits and what the storm does between now and then (hurricane or not, speeds up or not, etc...)

More like 20", depending on model and location.

Projected now to landfall as Cat. 3 then stall and dump rain for days (15-20"). This could be major flooding event for the whole coastal area and inland to San Antonio /Austin area.

Five years ago I would be on our 34' sailboat at Port Aransas stripping sails, doubling all the dock lines, stowing everything that might move then heading for the house to board up and leave depending on the forecast.

Do miss the sailing but not the hurricane prep as we went through that drill on more than one occasion..

Get out warnings being issued according to Fox news. Good luck to all there...

I've got a guest room for anyone that needs to bug out North for a few days.

Must not be allergic to cats or be able to deal with it without *****ing.

6 to 10 feet is what I just saw on the news. Rainfall totals could be considerably higher than the estimates posted above, depending on what this thing does.

It sounds like a pretty bad one...

My friend lives in a 20 year old subdivision near Houston (Sugarland) and the floor of every house is about 2" above grade. Crazy. I don't know if they've ever had water in the house, but I've seen it get pretty darned close during a hard rain. This was common in our area (Ohio) 50 years ago, but building code now says 8" minimum, and our terrain is 3D.

Upgraded to a Cat 3 potentially when making landfall. Its about to be serious. The first predictions were for a weak Cat 1, now the bump to a 3. Thats pretty troubling.

If it stalls off shore in the wrong spot, it will kick your ass for a week.

Buy some gas for the generator, and extra bottled water.

Do you have a chainsaw for the trees that will come down?
