I don't think I'd quit my job until I had the cash.

Congrats to her, but agreed. Why the hell would you announce to the world that you are now worth $300 million?

Her life's going to be hell from now on with every moron around trying to get their hands on the money.

The reason I care so much is she's my twin sister, separated at birth. And although I'm down on my luck (and could do with 10 maybe 20 million to put things right) I still really care about her.

Other than my wife, I wouldn't tell a soul until i had the money in hand. I would find a local, trusted accountant, and financial planner, and then develop a trust that would claim the prize. I don't believe there is any way that you could "sit back and relax" living in the same town if your name was known.

Some states had laws or something that you had to publicly come forward to get the prize. I think many states dropped that and I don't think you should announce this because you and yours will be targeted by scammers. Family members and inlaws will suddenly find people interested in marrying them.

Me, I'd buy properties all of the world and move to them and pray how I could use some of that money to help others less fortune. Not give handouts to stupid people. Maybe things like gift a surgery to somebody that would save their life by flying them to Canada!

I'd do the same, you are almost forced to move after a massive win. Whats fun about playing is the day before you realize you didn't win. You think in your head 'this time it's different, this time I get lucky and win' and for 24 hours. In your head your a pre half a billion. Then you go back to work and realize maybe next time.

I'd probably buy a few business the did me wrong and shut them down completely or sell them to their competitors. How many times have you quit a job and said someday I'm going to be rich, come back and by the place and fire everybody!

Never, but I have a dream of winning the big one, flying a helicopter into the parking lot of the work place, collecting my last paycheck from the boss and passing out envelopes stuffed with cash to all the colleagues I like, (mostly everyone!) and never setting foot into the place again.

But I sure as flock wouldn't show up at the lottery commission the very next day to collect my winnings.

Oh well fun to think about!

No one would know but my wife and I.

I'd set myself a nice "salary" to be paid out by my trust.

Maybe $1M per year. If I don't spend it all that year I get to roll it over.

Do some charitable work with the rest, an animal rescue maybe, I'd like that.

I would most definitely not quit working, I'd do what I wanted instead of what I had to do.

Maybe a nice workshop and weld up modern art out of discarded plumbing and car parts.

Not sure how many States let you be anonymous, but it is probably better that the winner is named; think about it for a moment if no one could do a background check on the winner, the lottery officials could fix the results so family members or even themselves would win and there wouldn't be anyway to check.

Pretty sure all states make the winner go public. The state has to prove to the players that someone won. Otherwise people would claim the whole thing is a scam.

There have been quite a few studies done on lottery winners. It almost always ruins the person's life.

My kid's blind trust bought that ticket. If I had a kid, that is.

Wining the lottery always gives the person who won a whole bunch of new problems.

Often people burn through the cash at an alarming rate. Maybe financial planning should be offered to the winner as part of the prize?

I wouldn't mind that problem in my life but I would worry about my kids. Would someone kidnap them to get their hands on the money? Would my kids be forever weary of getting married because of the money? The more I think about it the more problems I can see.

Aside from hiring a few new people and getting some new tooling made for new products, I wouldn't change a thing.

A modest 2500 sq/ft Spanish style 3 bdrm/3 bath home on the Santa Barbara Rivera, guessing ~ $3M... its an amazing place. Payouts to immediate family. The rest goes into an investment fund that promotes quality of life, travel, and family.

Edit. I have purchased 7 PB tickets in the last 2 years. Just for the opportunity to dream. Up until yesterday they all scored zero hits on numbers. Is there a reward for most consistent zero matches? Yesterday I hit the powerball and one number. I win $4...haha. I'm a winner! Roll it forward Bob.

Hopefully the non existent kid is 18 or older or you would not be able to collect.

There's a guy fighting a $1M prize right now because he sent his kid in to the store to get the ticket.

Kid was 17, underage, lottery commission is claiming it was not a valid sale.

I'm pretty sure multi-state lottery winners is public information. Single state-wide winners can be anonymous according to the rules in each state.
