You forgot to add that: "Yeah she's my 2nd cousins sister, used to be stripper until she met her 3rd husband but that was a while ago. Now she's really grounded and working part time at Wal-Mart"

But seriously, I've spent my life with Chow Chows and while I wouldn't trade my memories - I wouldn't consider an Akita. They are in the same family, very closely related but larger more powerful and even more attitude if that's even possible.

My wife has had Husky's. Also very independent, goofy, no sense of 'home' or direction. They are very high energy and expert escape artists. I don't see why someone would want to combine those 2 breeds. That dog would be challenging for a seasoned owner.

I'd look elsewhere...

unless your willing to give time & responsibility..
Don't..
no matter the breed..
I've had the Rotts & GS and several whatever..

it's alot like owning a gun..
it's all on you till you bury it // them..
you can leave the air soft laying about..
once you go Rotts,Akita and the like..
you can train, socialize & be confident all you want..
but you must always remember & be aware..
you got a loaded 45 @your side..

If you are okay with all of that go for it.
The upside is that you have a workout buddy. One that is ready to go (and will actually try to make you go when you don't feel like it)...every day.

Beau has me on a strict 12-hour plan. 7am every day, we do 1.5 to 2 miles (running and walking). At 7pm every day, we do 2.5 to 3 miles (again, running and walking). Between that and a change to my own diet, I've dropped over 40 lbs since January. And I feel GREAT!!!

The lazy Greyhounds do nothing but sit on the couch doing nothing all day long.
They don't even require food or pooping.
Just let them out to run for a couple minutes, once a month or so, and you're all good.
They do like to 'mouth' other dogs and may eat poop or have a bit of neurotic ptsd.

The noble Airedales are also super chill in personality, but they consume food like a turbine consumes air.

Because puppies are Satan. After the cute wears off you will come to hate it. Five years later you will fall in love again and realize it's the best dog ever.

Or you could just spare yourself the crap and adopt an older well adujusted dog.

When I was a kid my friend had an Akita great looking tough dog but not a family god. My aunt had a husky who was a loving great dog who was great with everybody but if a door was left open she was gone.
Like the labs are the boxers. I'm on my forth and they are just great dogs. Get along with everybody and they can look intimidating. I often fear someone will break into my house and they will lick him to death.

My aunt and uncle have two Husky's, one sort of listens and is friendly, the other don't listen at all and you are told to make no sudden movements around.

They like to dig holes and kill squirrels.

I love the way they look, a bit on the large side though for inside a house.

Sounds like the proposed mix could be dicey, a fighting breed mixed with a very independent personality (a dog that does NOT obey commands).

You could get lucky, or sued.

Too bad because they are a handsome mix from what I've seen on the Internet.

Dont know about that breed

After our mini schnauzer died Memorial Day weekend we decided to get another one

So in July we got a 3 month old mini schnauzer puppy and at 45 years old I'll admit I'm having a very hard time keeping my sanity. I love the little guy but wow is it exhausting and taking over all my time and energy.

We have another adult rescue and I would probably go that route knowing what I know about puppies now

Growing up we always had puppies and I don't remember the stress being like this

my first dog that i bought was supposed to be a mastiff lab mix, turned into a f-ed up pug mix.. then i bought myself a staferedshire terrier(pit bull). the pit is the best dog ive ever had and ive had around 20. both of which was rescued from a kill shelter.

Get yourself a rescue that's already been housebroken... and like someone said, get one that looks chill. You probably don't want a dog that is running around the pen at the rescue, barking constantly like he's on crack.

Most rescue kennels if they're any good, will talk with you about what you're like and give you an idea about the dog you're thinking about (if it might fit you and your lifestyle). And will also have a reasonable return and exchange policy if the dog absolutely doesn't work out.

Ask them if they think the dog is okay to be put in a crate for short periods of time like during thunderstorms, etc. Our dog sleeps in his crate, then is put in there during storms because he's freaked out otherwise.
