Wouldn't that be like hit-and-run. Get his name and call or pay a visit, then small claims court.

Fudge guys, taking with my buddy this am, he instantly knew the car. I think a few of us probably know him .
Guy is pretty well known and repsected in the p car community.. I know who he is. I would say I look up to him somewhat . True long term porsche guy .
This had to be an accident . Still, I cant wrap my head around the fact that he did not know that he hit my door. Surely, as a car guy he was aware . The door was touching for several seconds .
Why does life have to be so friking complicated ??

Time to get in touch with him.

Get yer witnesses in line.
contact him, and explain what happened, ask him Was it him driving, or perhaps somebody else with his car?
And if he can meet up to discuss.

if he is well respected, give him an option to come out in the clear and square things away

Honestly, I am not looking for monetary compesation, my car is not perfect, and already has a few door dings. My paint is a 10 footer, I think Id rather have a door ding than one super shiny door, against older paint on the rest of the car / . It is what it is.
I know how to contact him. Guess I am going to send him a message just to let him know what happened, and see where the chips may fall . Sorry would be cool. Accidents do happen.
But... As a car guy. I am 100% aware when I door ding someone. Hard to fathom that he would not be in tune as well . My son, my friend Scott, and myself all watched it unfold .

Then send him the message saying the group of you saw what happened and that he apparently wasn't aware. Tell him you expect a repair not - a repaint but maybe one of those guys who come out & massage out the ding. Then have him eliminate some of the other dings & pay the difference.

That is what I would do.

Let's see if he has earned the respect you say he has.

It was so strange to see it unfold that my first thoughts were that this was on purpose . I should probably think things through better before I post in the future .
Weird that he would leave without saying a word. He had to have known that his door made contact with mine. I just cannot see a car guy of this stature making a dumb mistake like this. My buddy, who knows him, said he would have a kinipition fit if it had been his door. Rightfully so. We all make mistakes , it is how we handle them that counts

I have. There are certain elitist VW owners that won't give you the time of the day unless you're rolling a six-figure car. I had a car on display next to one of these guy's cars at the California Auto Museum, and he still wouldn't give me to the time of day. I walked up to him, introduced myself, and he just took out his phone and started texting someone.

That is someone who just sucks at life. May or may not be connected to car snobbery.

FWIW, you are one of the people on the top of my list of whom I'd like to meet and only partly because of your cool cars and taste.

Benefit of the doubt... gets an emergency phone call or text. A bit distressing. Had to get out of there pronto. Spatial awareness thrown out the window (or door in this case).

The only snobbery here might be by you, the 930 owner.
This guy is probably a low budget guy and most defiantly a douche, but defiantly not a snob.
His car is not well maintained because the common door limiter problem has not been addressed, He most likely is a long term Porsche owner that bought the car when the long hoods were cheap alternatives to the newer 911's.
Dollars to doughnuts he does not have comprehensive car insurance or if he does he has a big deductible and this accident will expose the low budget guy he is. So he chose the douche path, and ran.
His running away if any thing shows he is not a snob but just a low budget douche.

Dude, are saying I am the snob? You are mistaken my friend, I bought my 930 before they went way up in value, and this dude has more money than God .
His car is perfect with a high dollar motor. You have it all flip flopped . ( I said flip flop )

Then as a non-snob and a good guy, I would take this approach if you see him again,
#1 no violence and no name calling, you will look like the 'bad guy' in everyone else eyes who witness it.
#2, confront him with a simple question and statement, "why did you damage my car and leave? stand up guys do not do that"

If you see mutual Porsche people from the area, ask them why he would do such a thing?, but do not name call him while asking.
His actions will get back to him in the small community of people that make up this hobby. And that, I believe will be your best chance for retribution.

I think the whole 'snob' conversation is overthinking.

Maybe interact with him over email or a mailed letter so he can have a chance to put on his mature persona and respond like an adult, de-douche himself?

The ding repair approach sounds fair to me.

A guy in Pittsburg who likes to slash and run. Sounds like Sidney Crosby is a Porsche fan, and a snobby one at that!

You're way calmer about the whole thing than I'd have been. Good on you for that. Hopefully, Sidney makes things right.

I wish I had found a peru red 930. I love that color, and it looks awesome on a 930. You want to swap for a marine blue one?

Hope it all gets resolved.

I agree. Get a reasonable repair estimate and hand it to the guy. He either pays or he walks, but you won't get paid sitting at home stewing over it.
