Don't do it. I sold mine 4 years ago and have regretted it since day one. I'm glad I still have my 914 as it eases the pain of loss for my 911S.

I know where you can find the answer to this one
Good lord man, it is right there, and I bet the weather is beautiful. Take a few weekdays, trust me, you will know.

I did just that. Took the old 911S for a day's run of 200 miles over twisty roads. One of the sections was 13 miles of what is known as Oregon's crookedest road. Turns so steep that large trucks & motorhomes are banned because they can't make the corners. Then I emailed Evren. The car had given me over 3 decades of memories. Frankly, the earlier years, before the moneychangers, were the best. Now he's building his own memories, and that's good. I have no desire to own another Porsche.

After a period of low grade worry about the Immobilizer, bad drivers, and possible vandalism, I sold my 993 two years ago and have absolutely no regrets. My late wife and I had six wonderful years with it.
I might get a 997.2 when I recover, but in the meantime it's something nice to think about. |

KC, I can understand your dilemma as I am in about the same place.
I love my 85. But I have had thoughts of selling it too and fight the sell it/keep it thoughts that I go back and forth with. I tinker and keep all the mx up on it and replace things that need replacing and I baby it and keep it sparkling. Though I don't enjoy the mx part as much anymore. But I drive it too. And take long multi day trips and long short trips. It still gives me a thrill and always puts a smile on my face. But..... I'm getting older and I worry when I'm on the road with it. Mechanical issues, morons on the road, parking at hotels at night, etc. Makes it tough to look forward to the trips. And it just isn't as comfy as the MB. I always wanted to drive a 911 until I can't climb out of the thing, it was such a boyhood fantasy car. I must admit I have been keeping an eye out for 997.2's as well, but not really seriously, I don't think. But it has the 911 look, sport, comfort, gizmos, reliability and on and on that would make it a great trip car. I am so conflicted. And I don't want to regret selling it. I could never find another aircooled that I know so well and am a part of if I had to have, needed to have, one back in the garage. Every year I walk the Porsche paddock at the Rolex 24 and look at the new 911's and always do I smile seeing my little red one amongst them and always does it bring a smile as I roar off home. Damn!

Though I don't drive it much, I do drive it occasionally. When I do, it's like....it's the only care I've felt "one" with. It has the one quality I most value in a car. Obedience.

Wait, you sold your 911S? And you have no desire to own another Porsche?
