In terms of food:
When is the last time you saw a herd of cats grazing in a field of corn or soy?
The answer is never. So don't feed them grain ingredients.

They supposedly get a lot of their moisture from food(not drinking) and a little bit of wet junk food is a good thing.
Mine overeats so it's just a tablespoon.

The "off proteins" like lamb/duck/salmon is supposed to be better than chicken/beef.
For dry, I usually feed grain-free Solid Gold Blue Moon(the katzenflocken made them fart), Taste of the Wild, and/or Blue Wilderness.
Other cats supposedly have lived 20 years on Purina with grains...so I don't know.

I've got one now, she screams, she will do crap like leave the room you are both in, go to the farthest part of the house and scream bloody murder

She does not want attention, as in petting or anything, she wants you to acknowledge she exists and worship her.

Unfortunately cat are like people... and some can be real a-holes... also unfortunately whereas I can ID a healthy cat I can't do a personality check... you pretty much place you bet and take your chances (like any pet).
I had something like a Russian blue, a silver Asian looking female that someone dumped in my yard she was very sweet and could go from sitting on the floor to the top of the refrigerator in a single bound.
Also had a black/white pound rescue that was super sweet, would follow me around the house like a dog, had to be in my lap all the time, lost her to kidney failure at about 8 years

We also travel every so often so it will be left alone for 2-3 days at a time a few times a year.

What breeds do you guys recommend? We do want a 'normal' looking cat if that makes sense. So PLEASE do not suggest or post pictures of the evil looking hairless cat breed!

She is thinking about a Russian Blue.. And aren't Siamese cats hypo also? But I've heard they are, well, quirky..

And male or female?

Thoughts?
Sadly, if your wife is allergic, I'd say no cat. We currently have three, all rescues. Delightful critters, but they do need care. Two brothers, gotta be part maine coon. Both large cats. Then the little black & white female who staggered up to Cindy one day, starved and wounded. Throat injury, now healed, but she has difficulty eating, can't meow or purr...just weird aack sounds.

Appoint me master of the universe, I'd see all cats have a loving home.

Please...if you do get a pet..neuter it.

Rule of thumb.People with one cat ok two cats well alright they must have got the second to deal with the first. Three or more STAY AWAY THERE CRAZY. Must read the litter pail thread. Next a scratching post thread and no one will ever get a cat.
