Sorry Java. I have a weird sense of humor, which is why I seem to fit in on PPOTBBS. JoeBob is one of our resident funsters who seems like he can take a joke and I love Sammy’s posts. Between the two I couldn’t help the cross-thread reference.
I am, however, currently at a Crispy Creme where I am researching my newest get rich quick, I mean, retirement plan. Mmm. It is tasty. ![]()

In my 20s and 30s I drove 356s all over the US and Canada, and could not conceive of taking a "common" car. I see something of that attitude in the OP. And a TransAm appeals to the younger, softer generation. It has AC, heat, a defroster - all the things we did without while looking cool in our Porsches, but still it has some level of panache, however limited. (just yanking your chain here OP) ![]() There is a story about an old bull and a young bull looking over a herd of heifers that I think is relevant somehow, but there is a nightcap awaiting me on the bar ...

OK, I think I've got it. Drive the Porsche to Rockford IL. Park at a Krispy Kreme. Take an Uber to Indiana. Rent a car to continue the trip.
I'm going to need to see at least a page of posts comparing Krispy Kreme to Tim Horton's. I've never been to a Tim Horton's. The local Krispy Kreme closed years ago. It's late and I need to go to bed. I want an apple fritter. |

I always rent for long trips. If you happen to break down, they bring a replacement vehicle to you.
Quick story... I live in western NY, drove my 2001 Saab to Tennessee to eyeball some real estate. Car broke down first day in TN, and was towed to repair facility. I got a rental to continue my original plan. I stayed 6 days waiting for it to get fixed because I didn't want to drive home to NY only to go back to retrieve car when it was done being repaired. I always rent for long trips....now

Probably my favorite road trip experience was driving a 997 from Charlotte back home to Wichita through the Smokey Mountains. I wouldn’t have written that sentence had I been driving a minivan. Sincerely, the guy who owns a minivan and has driven it to Florida several times.
