As for the custom made boots: San Antonio or El Paso
My bad, I presumed Lubbock might be reasonably close to one of those places... google mapped it... not so much

Hell, it's west Texas. There isn't crap to do in west Texas. You know this, you're from there. Outside of Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston, Texas isn't worth much, if you're looking for good food and things to do.

If you don't buy any boots, buy a couple hats. Your line of work, you need a good hat.

Brush up on your line dancing!

Do you like BBQ?

I got nothing for Lubbock, buy I'm guessing a city of 250K people must have something going on for food and entertainment.

I did a work trip to Fort Worth and had a great time.

Don't forget Austin. They may be weird (which can be entertaining) but they've also got some really good food, better scenery, and it's got a lot better driving in the area than Houston or Dallas.

Thats not Lubbock. Lubbock scenery is kind of bland, but its cotton, sorghum, wheat, corn and pasture, not creosote. Soils the wrong color too. Pic looks like it could be over in NM between Hobbs and Carlsbad.

I have spent a lot of time in Austin. Some of the worst traffic jams I've been in were in Austin. I remember the 10 years or so it took them to redo the highway intersection in the middle of town. It turned interstate 35 into a parking lot.

There's a couple good restaurants, but you can keep Sixth Street. I'm sure there's some scenery there too, but I'm not into tattoos and piercings.

There is one "bar" there that's pretty good, but it shall remain nameless.

Love the Walmart comment — I went to decent BBQ place in Lubbock last year (had free beer) — I’ll try and get the name .....

Wow, interesting place.

I stared as far as I could see; and I saw the back of my own head.

So, apart from bagging a few birds, how was Lubbock?

Better than my first time. 33 years changed that place for the better.

Decent enough food. Subpar craft beer found.
Gas prices all over the place. 25 cent swings from block to block.

White ford trucks dominate the roadscape.

And they have a Cabelas!

I was in Lubbock in 1991 for a couple of hours. I still regret spending too much time there.
