Thanks, I'll definitely try it sometime soon, maybe make some for my mom's at Christmas.

I make mine own. Instead of sugar Splenda and whole milk. That way you control your own taste profile and destiny.

Four year old thread but still very relevant.

BTW...here is where you find those missing forum members.....

Still enjoying my Kahlua and eggnog (having a mug right now in fact) but noticed in the package stores they carry eggnog with various liquors already premixed.

Anyone have any recommendations other than what's already posted?

Cheers!

I love eggnog ! I used to make my own which was really good, but nothing I have ever had beats the stuff from Pittsford Dairy. It is the best ! Nice and thick, very flavorful. They are a small dairy in the town I grew up in. It was one of my chores to get milk. So whether I walked or rode my bike, I went to Pittsford Dairy. If I was smart and saved a little of my allowance, I could get a donut that they sold there. I just polished off a quart of eggnog that I picked up there on Monday....and a donut.

kahlua is good too.

its pretty sweet to me now.
mom would make it when I was kid.
put a raw egg and I think cinnamon or something like that in milk.
just finished a jug last week but I only sip it. maybe one or two sips a day.

chocolate milk is my weakness but I cant drink it because of the caffeine

When we lived in Northern NY we came across the Tom and Jerry, similar to egg nog. I absolutely hated it. I'm guessing it was the gut rot rum they used that had XXXX on the label. Or the eggs. There are other versions without eggs but that isn't correct.

From the wiki:

Commonly used ingredients Eggs or egg whites, powdered sugar, brandy, rum
Preparation Separate eggs. Beat egg whites until stiff. Mix egg yolks with powdered sugar. Put a spoonful of yolk mixture in cup, and mix with brandy and rum. Fold in some egg white, then add hot milk and top with more egg white. Stir gently to fold in the egg white. Top with Nutmeg.

If you aren't aging the eggnog for a few weeks in the fridge, you're missing out.

We use this recipe. Ingredients appear to be very similar to Alton and Martha's recipes, but you age it for a month or so.
