Wow Patrick, that is far nicer than I imagined, really get the Speedster in the rec room well. Congratulations!

I was fortunate to have brunch with Patrick and his lovely wife last Sunday. Spent an hour and half together, nicest couple you'd ever want to meet.

The best advice I can give, looking at the length of the drive way and the size of the property, is to get whatever make and model of utility side by side 4x4 (and get a snow plow) you prefer.

I've got snow removal covered six foot 3-point blade for the Kubota. I was going to PM you about PTO driven generators. The previous owner had some sort of portable generator wired into a transfer switch, which is still there. Not sure there is space for a permanently sited generator and I'm thinking of a PTO unit for the tractor. I understand you use one.

Yes, had a great time with Shaun. We took pictures, but they are so awful Mrs WD forbids me to share them.

Wow! a Speedster in the rec room. Can't get more classy than that. Congrats on your new place.

NICE!!! Good score.

Pictures like these are why I can't wait to get out of SoCal. That house with that amount of property would cost $1,750,000 where I live. Great CA weather...great CA weather...great CA weather. I can tell myself that all day long, but look at quality of life you guys get for half the money.

$1.75 million? Try 1/4 the money (a little less, actually) BUT it's 39 degrees, cloudy, and windy here. You need comfortable indoor space because outdoor living only goes on for 5 months out of the year.

when I was younger I always wanted to live in the city (and did) and was afraid of missing any potential excitment.

Now I'm in my 40s with 3 kids even suburbia seems too crazy for me. Sometimes I feel like the only car guy on the internet without a dedicated shop!

1/4...??? That amazes me. Ohio might be cold, but look what you have.

My wife loves snowy winters. She'd love it there. I'd like to be by Baz hanging in flip flops with a wardrobe made up of surf shorts and Hawaiian shirts. Looks like SC will be our compromise.

No where near California prices but our real estate is going up. I don't think I will ever move (after all....this is the destination of many who vacation....and/or retire) but if I did the place Patrick just picked up would be what I would want....lots of space! :)

My latest concept is to 'vacation-rent' my place out and travel...how about spending a year in OZ while the $ rolls in from my renter! :p

Sorry for the slight thread drift.....;)

Always room underground. Better for noise abatement as well.

Nice digs, BTW.

We can swap homes for a few weeks a year! How about February? You leave the flip flops out and I'll hang the keys to the snow blower by the door. ;)

Ideal. Congrats!

Thanks. If I ever get homesick I'll pull this up to remind me of the good old days. :D

You aren’t! I am early 40s with a young kid... I want a larger garage so bad it’s not even funny. But no commute into the city is better for now.

Congrats Patrick. Retirement is being good to you. Counting the minutes (days and years). Enjoy!
