Question Finding a Slicktop (non-sunroof) Car

I'm a no-sunroof guy, mainly for headroom reasons, but finding a high-end sporty car without a sunroof is hard, both because they are rare and because it is nearly impossible to search for "no sunroof." I've found a slicktop M3 now (with a boxster for the open-air driving), but the search was hard so I decided to start a blog to help enthusiasts like me have an easier time finding a non-sunroof car.

So if you are looking for a slicktop, selling one, or have found an interesting listing, check out my blog:

www.slicktopia.com

This is not a business, just a resource for fellow slicktop sports car enthusiasts. Listings are free and any posts are credited to the submitter.

Cheers!

I found an slicktop E46 M3 by accident - wasn't looking for one but the opportunity presented itself and I just had to jump on it.

Cool idea! I discriminate against sunroofs as well.

I don't know much about M car options but on regular BMWs an unfortunately high percentage come with sunroofs. I think it mostly has to do with the premium package which comes with a sunroof whether you want it or not.

I bought the first private party manual F30 without a sunroof I found. And I haven't seen another come up yet.

I have to agree. I wish my 911 did not have a sunroof. In the last 10 years I have opened it three times, In Monterey, CA at the Acadia National Park in Maine and in Canada on a pretty day. And it was only open for 10 or 15 minutes before I got tired of the sun in my face. I rarely roll the windows down. Never while driving above 10 MPH.

I drove a convertible for over 20 years (a 914) and I have been there, done that.

I prefer no sunroof as well. They seem pretty easy to find in the Midwest though. Of my four sporty cars, only the 944s had sunroofs.

Along the same lines, when I was shopping for a 356, I found one with a sunroof, which is technically more valuable, I wish it was a slick-top. With the Isetta, you don't have a choice - they all have sunroofs.

Thanks y'all. The no-sunroof crowd is small but committed. I hope the blog is a useful and fun resource.

I got to check the blog out. I am too in the N/S crowd. The other requirement is manual shift.

78 911 non sunroof 915
85 Kubvan non anything VW 5 speed 020
01 Dodge 1500 non sunroof 5 speed on the floor
08 VW Rabbit non sunroof 5 speed

Wife went with a MB 350SLK but 6 speed manual

Tough to find, I needed a car on short notice in 08 and took 3 dealerships to get me what I wanted. No Sunroof, 5 speed manual and alloys.

The wifes Benz took a lot of searching and finally in Atlanta found a Blue car with a 6 speed, just what she would have ordered new. It is either a slick top or open kind of met mine and her requirement.

Beside the slick top a manual tranny is also in our only to own.

I used to own a sunroof delete 996TT, you actually had to option to remove the standard sunroof. That was a unicorn that I should have kept.

I got a Euro 84' Mercedes 280CE that has the sunroof delete option. Plus 5 speed transmission, roll up windows, cloth interior and SLS rear suspension.

I've never heard it spoken, but it seems common on BMW forums. I don't think they're all that rare on older cars, but like the OP said they're hard to search for.
