High end model car kits and have bonding time.
Is he interested in racing or just a car fan?

Sony Playstation 4 Slim and Gran Turismo Sport game. Right now on sale.... Nothing beats the real thing, but this can show him a thing or two.

IF you have a HDR 4K TV, then go for the Playstation Pro, otherwise, the Slim will be more than fine.

My twin boys are bigger car freaks than me and though nothing beats taking them to a real race track (to see cars) and occasional kart days, this simulator is pretty good for those rainy days. Just make sure he doesn't become addicted to video games and does other things.

How about the model Boxster engine that Pelican sells? I picked one up for my daughter and I to do together.

A trip to SEMA, or maybe Daytona, if that doesn't fuel the fire, nothing will.

I went to the Mid Ohio Vintage races again this year, and walked through the pits, talked to some drivers, got my hat blown off by a revving former Indy car, and experienced the deep, chest pounding thunder of former NASCAR cars starting/tuning an arm's length away.

Go-carts are always a kick in the azz.

Lots of good ideas. I think the stuff will be cool now but years from now he'll look back and remember the race you went to, the kart/car/model/whatever you worked on or whatever experience you enjoy together. Try to mix it up with a smaller thing for now and a project or event you do together.

Tools. A set of 3/8 drive metric sockets and a ratchet, a few screwdrivers, couple of pliers, a smallish ball-peen hammer. Don't skimp on quality. And, a box to put 'em in.

(Just noticed that Dad911 was at the tool store first.) :-)

In my world 12 means puppy or gun.

Though why do I think we’re all giving gift advice to a bot?

I have found something that entertains me so much that I have to have it. I mean, my kid has to have it It is a stupid gadget which I would never buy to myself, but for the kid Anyway, I was looking at iPad stands for bed and I found something better. It is a tiny foosball gadget you can use on your iPad. basically, it is a foosball table for kids because it is the same size as your iPad and it has tiny rods which you can actually use.
