Elissa And Her Trip To Maui
Elissa was granted a trip to a beach and she asked to go to Hawaii. My wife's friend has a house a block from the beach in Maui and invited us to stay with her. Elissa's Doctors gave her 30 days to remain on this earth so this became a Rush Priority.
The flight on American was great till we were running low on batteries for her 2 oxygen concentrators. We were told every seat on the 777 had a plug for 110 volt. Let it be known that the 110 outlets have a 50ma rating. This was our first time to fly with Elissa on oxygen and we had batteries for around 14 hours under perfect conditions. TSA took over 1 hour for us with 3 bags of only medical supplies batteries and oxygen machines then throw in a flight delay of 30 minutes I was starting to freak out. Now no power on the flight, talking to maintenance and the flight attendance looking a real 110/10 amp outlet.......There is a 10 amp outlet for the ground cleaning crew that Boeing put by each exit. Maintenance pops off the cover and it is like a round special use outlet...Nothing in the galley either. The cabin altitude was going to be at 7000 feet and i figured we would be in a bind before we landed. I asked what would happen id we needed oxygen before we landed and the flight attendants said don't worry we have 15 bottles of oxygen. One oxygen concentrator would maintain Elissa at 7000 feet and the smaller one would not. We were monitoring oxygen levels and after walking to the head Elissa felt week. They bring us a tank of oxygen and we and an hour later we were in Maui. I had to order 2 $400 batteries and pay for next day air so we would not run short on the flight back. The AA crew treated Elissa with 2 bottles of first class wine as a gift. The trip was wonderful and the flight back was uneventful. Elissa got 1.3 hours in a Jet Ranger. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's a million dollar smile in the chopper! Enjoy the rest of your stay, and don't worry, we aren't getting nuked.
