Pick up a shyte ton of Gatorade and bottled water. Kleenex while you're at it.

If you don't have any chicken stock in the freezer maybe pick up a chicken, carrots onion and celery too. That seemed to help.

I'm sitting in the doctor's office right this minute - just had a flu swab; it kinda felt like the lobotomy pic from the random pictures thread

I wonder how many people who died this year said the same thing.

I had not had the flu since my teens when about 15 years ago I came down with a whopper. Ended up in the hospital for a week and almost died. Since then I have religiously got the flu shot every September or October. Anything to improve my odds so that I don't have to go through that again.

How many died:

About 100 kids so far.

Then there is the rest of the people. About 10% of all death certificates have flu / flu like illness as cause. So, with 2.4 million dead / year in the USA, that's about 50k/week. So, if 10% of that die from the flu, that's 5k/week, or about 50k people per season. if you say it is 10 weeks long (it is longer, making up for the ramps).

Here is where I have the info from (before my quick math). You can see on the website that it is mainly old people that are hit, but quite a few that are not geriatric as well.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm#MS
ItsMyLife: How Many People Die in America

I guess nobody gets excited about the flu wiping out the elderly because they often were very sick already and if that didn't kill them, something else would soon?

I have had it real good this year, even though I had the shot. Now I should be pretty immune. It has hit some people I know really hard including younger folks. I take the shot every year religiously after being down HARD about 10 years ago.

The CDC is predicting 56,000 deaths this flu season which is about the same as the same lethality as the Swine Flu epidemic. Let’s be careful out there.

therefore, this makes Ebola look like a hangnail.

i remember the torch and pitchfork crew..haha. it is shocking how the flu is so downplayed in our country. we should give it a more sinister name.

If that 9-35 million statistic is correct that's 3-10% of the population being infected.

Our local paper had infection rates by county a couple weeks ago. I did the math and came up with less than a 1% infection rate which seemed suspiciously low.

This years' strain certainly has been unusually potent. I wonder if the higher death rate could be linked to other drug use - like the Xanax user above. There certainly seems to be a real explosion of that use coincident with this outbreak.

Part of my routine.

I mist my hands. After handshakes and stuff. I have the spray bottles everywhere.

the FLU. how many died?

I have no idea how many have died but just about everyone I know has had it. It is a flu you
Can’t get rid of. I have had it 4 weeks. This is the first time I’ve had the flu since I started taking flu shots in 2006. The coughing and body aches aren’t that bad for me but it wears you down. I finally went to doc and he gave me antibiotics but he shouldn’t have. I really wanted a corticosteroid shot. Docs never give you what you ask for. I Can see how people who aren’t generally healthy anyway, the elderly or small children could die from it.
