I've been on that bridge watching cars take the left hand sweeper at the very end.

They all took way longer.

Agree 100% and I miss that noise, you can never forget the sound of a high revving V10

Spent many tea breaks stood outside the back of the Ferrari F1 factory next to the Fiorano circuit watching Clienti owners play with their toys

Picture from inside of the toy box

Honda never ran their engine at 20,000 rpm on the track

During the Bonneville 400 when setting the F1 land speed record the engine guys went for $hit or bust and wound the revs up above 19,000 rpm

Are those cars Ferrari owned or privately owned? Either way, jaw dropping.

Ferrari Clienti program allows people to "own" their cars, but only Ferrari techs are allowed to touch them and store them. I'll let the Capt'n explain more, as I'm sure he has some great info.

Will never forget the first time I heard a V-10 in person. I was stunned, to put it mildly.

Not sure how many are Ferrari owned and how many are privately owned

To keep the secrets at home and for safety reasons people can buy and drive an obsolete Ferrari F1 car but the owner can't take the car away for a certain number of years and Ferrari Clienti are the only people to maintain them.

Ultimate fly in and drive

Owners tend to blast it on the straights and come in for a change of underpants every couple of laps where a racing driver would be flat out for lap after lap. Easy to tell the difference who was who.

I'm probably the only person to have driven an air cooled Porsche there as inside the factory gates is a Fiat group car brand only zone but the kids Christmas party one year was in a big top tent in the middle of the circuit

It was a 1/2 lap drive to get there from the main gate, family wasn't very pleased with me when I went for it in my 930, the bridge has a tricky off camber exit to it.

They weren't half as livid as the family we drove past stood on the side of the track when the dad went off into one of the gravel traps in their Fiat Punto

Super cool, Cap'n.

Great thread, great sounds. I'm glad that I was at the Grand Prix at COTA when they still sounded like that.

It's hard to beat this for Ferrari audio,

Here is a shot I took at Daytona in 2016 at the Ferrari World event. There must have been 150 factory Ferrari mechanics there.

The solution to F1's woes is obvious. Bring back the normally-aspirated engines! Those 3-liter V-10s were awesome in person. But I'll always have a soft spot for the old Ferrari flat-12 too.
