G'day!
|
Well I picked up a couple front fairings from eBay today. The ones that are missing. Will have to do some slight repair work on them and repaint them but should work out. Also have a new battery coming - the old one didn't take a charge - no surprise.
Still trying this figure out how to get this cap off without buggering up the tank.

My fairings arrived Thursday. They will need some work, of course. I have a full set from my other bike so just need to get the kit from Polyvance and methodically do the repairs. Then re-paint.
Also got a new battery - a gel style. Still haven't been able to get cap off fuel tank so going to bypass at least to get her started and running. Here are the fairings:

Does the gas cap housing not come off the tank when you remove the five allen head screws ? Then you can work the cap issue at the work bench ? It probably is not that easy but I had to ask .

Here are a few pics of what it looks like from underneath (I got these pics from an eBay auction). ![]() ![]() ![]() I've already decided to let my mechanic handle this - and in the meantime I'll hook a portable tank up to the outlet line going to the fuel pump just so I can get her running, before I take it to him. Will post updates as appropriate...... ![]()

I prefer the older VFR's myself but different strokes for different folks, right?
Those older ones in red, white, and blue livery are way cool...... ![]()

Regarding the fuel tank cap problem, I just bought a used tank that looked to be in pretty good shape for this year VFR.
It has a working cap and keys....plus I'm getting the matching ignition and helmet lock. Seemed to be the best approach on this situation.

Baz - After you posted that you got that last one, I went looking on the local c-list here. Found a 1000 VFR that was really nice out in Palm Springs. Sure wish I still could afford to ride.

^^^ Good that they have all the fairings and covers but not sure I'd go for that one....
Quick update......found the graphics I needed: https://moto-sticker.com/ The only decal that isn't right is the "750F" above the rear wheel instead of the correct "Interceptor". https://moto-sticker.com/Honda-VFR-750-1988-DARK-BLUE-VERSION-STICKER-SET I'll deal with it.....ordered 2 sets!

Oh no, I dig em. I have an '85 VF1000R and a '83 VF750R was my first real sport bike back in the day. They are really cool bikes.
