G'day!
|
Look what followed me home today......new addition to the stable!
It's an '87 VRF 700 Interceptor. Picked up from CL - about an hour drive, each way. Missing both sides front fairings - but discounted a fair amount off selling price so that will help fund replacements.
To save time, I just will tell you the final selling price was $900. Details:
Overall I think she "looks" pretty good for her age! Let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise will post again when I get her running. Some of you know I have another one of these, also an '87) in a "speed yellow" re-paint. It's in the garage with a non-functioning clutch and I have not ridden it in a few years, but hoping to get her back going this year as well. I know not everyone thinks this is a great model but I love them. I especially like the vintage aspect, if that makes any sense.

Nice score Baz, can’t beat that price either. Ride in good health.

Rode a 500 Interceptor for awhile. Then had the use of a 1000 for a couple of years. Heavy beast that.
Nice find. The one with gear driven cams? I think that was the later 750.

VFRs are great, I've had a couple. Pretty sure that's a 2nd Gen bike w gear driven cams? I almost bought a '99 VFR 800 over in Ireland last summer, that would be the last pre-V-tech.
And yeah, it needs a chain. ![]() |

Cool bike
I had a later 750 for a while, really should have kept it. Did everything well. |

Yes - 2nd Gen.
Was just flipping through the owner's manual and found some entries in the service log. First entry is 5-26-87, odometer 1047, maintenance by Honda of Gardena. This is a California bike!

I like the looks of those and always have. Good color, too. Hopefully the missing bodywork isn't too hard to find! (You should probably lean towards a more aggressive chain maintenance schedule than the PO, though.)

The good thing about two of the same is you can register and get plates for one, and swap them over.

Good score Baz! I like that color. Should clean up nicely. Replace the chain and exhaust pipes and most of the rust is gone. Check the dates on those tires.
You are going to end up with a sweet pair of bikes. Cheers Richard |

Nice! I've always liked the Interceptor. That model must be from the Harley tariff years...

Thanks for all the compliments and comments, guys.....really appreciate it!
That's funny about swapping the plates, Bill....lol.... You know here in Florida my bike is considered an "antique" and buying and registering it is less expensive, too. I have "antique" plates on all my stuff except my work truck. ![]()

Great bike. Gonna be tough finding intact fairings.

I wouldn't be too quick in getting rid of that corbin saddle. Clean it up and try it out, you might be surprised.
I'd love to find a project like this too, 'cept I'd probably get killed around here the locals being such as they are driving wise.
