VW Reveals Insane Electric Pikes Peak Car!

In March they teased renderings of the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb vehicle, the I.D. R and on Sunday they displayed the beast via live stream. They gave off some of the specifications, but will keep some of its specifications for their knowledge only. This is Volkswagens first all-electric race car, which will undergo testing out at European racetracks before heading off to the famous PPIHC.

Specifications that were released with the vehicle are as follows:

Quote:
- 680 HP 479 TQ
- Torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive
- Sub-2,500 pound car
- 0 to 60 in 2.25 seconds
- Top speed limited to 149 MPH
- he car's battery pack will be charged en route to the summit by regenerative braking, said to supply a fifth of the energy needed for the I.D. R's race.

Looks like they took a sneak at some of Jack Olsen's wing threads and stole some ideas!

Cool. I drove up Pikes Peak in a 356. I would have made it a lot faster with those aero devices.

^^ Or under the chin, that thing is going to be planted!
I like it that there are still some events that encourage all out design innovation.

Times are going to be coming down.

This seems like a good event for electric vehicles , short duration. Plus no trouble with changing elevation.

Cheers Richard
