Dead.

I like Fords. I have had several F-100s or 150s for over Fordy years! And a few Mustangs, too.

I think it is tradition.
I have in my possession a book about one hundred years old entitled, "More Fun About Fords".

I have had five Fords, all but one were trucks. Hard working, but rusty around here.

Perhaps its the same as with Volvo here in Sweden. Sturdy and dependable but boring and frowned up on.

I purchased a Ranger to use as a fleet truck. I do not need full size trucks.

It was in the shop at least once a month with all kinds of wide ranging problems. From bad sensors to bad ball joints at 60K miles.

I got rid of it, I cannot afford to have my trucks sitting in shops. I only run Toyota Tacoma's and have since the 90's.

It was a very rare day when one of those were out for service.

In the early 90's I worked for a company that had a fleet of WT1500 Chevy's and we used a subcontractor that had a F150, I remember we would tease him because his truck was always needing something.

I also owned a 2001 Mustang GT for a few years, never had a problem with it, friend of mine bought it off me and he too had zero issues with it until he totaled it in a rainstorm. He walked away from that accident without an injury.

When I was a kid I had a 1967 Mustang too, loved that car, beat the crap out of it and it just wanted more.

I am indifferent about Fords the cars seem to be fine, my one time experience with a truck, I was not impressed. The F150's may be better now they were not in the 90's.

Now the Mustangs have taken the throne from the Corvettes as being most likely to do something stupid at a cars and coffee.

can't speak to the cars but the F150 is enjoying a reputation for less than stellar build quality right now.

The last Ford I owned was back in 1978 and my first wife and I bought a new Mustang Ghia 6 cylinder with manual transmission. Too many negatives about this Ford. It had front suspension problems and the tape player ate tapes.

Even the Ford salesman was insulting. With my then wife he said my wife needed a Japanese house boy(think fluffer!).

So there's your answer Markus. Ford stands for fluff or repair daily.

One of my friends bought a work truck for his welding business. F350 diesel. The first few months were fine. Then on a trip to Tulsa to deliver a trailer to a client the engine quit, and he was stuck on the side of the road. He had to call a buddy to get the trailer delivered and the pickup went to the dealer. They gave his a brand new F350 as a loaner and had his truck for 3 months. He picked it up and drove less than a mile and all the warning lights on the dash light up. He limped back into the dealership. The gave him yet another brand new loaner. After a month the dealer called him and said they sold the truck he was driving and brought him yet another truck, and got the one he was driving. After a total of 6 months they got his truck running right after replacing the entire fuel system, from the tang to the injectors. All the hoses, all the pieces.

He said the dealership was fantastic, and so far his truck is running fine. He will not keep it past the warranty period.

I have no doubt that every brand of vehicle has a horry story that is like that about their vehicles.

I think that is largely a function of the amount of horsepower per dollar.

Mustangs are inexpensive. Younger people can afford them. Younger people sometimes do dumb things--like try to impress everyone leaving a cars and coffee....

Here in Texas where every other car is a pickup truck, I hear more bashing on Dodge trucks. Probably just because there are less of them than Ford or Chevy. Two of my favorite Dodge jokes:

Do you know why Dodge trucks are so much taller than Fords and Chevys? So you can mow under them.

Did you hear about the new heated tailgate option on the Dodge? It's so your hands don't get cold when you're pushing it.
