A friend of my wife, a single mom, lives next to a bad hood known for lots of drugs and crime, her daughter was having car problems, I went over there with a code reader to see what was up with her car.
On the way there I noticed a patrol car parked under a tree off the side of the road. On the way out he was still there but I forgot about him, I was in my Charcoal Gray E30, I did a slow rolling stop at the stop sign, road was empty, cop was under the tree over my shoulder behind me. I did not come a a complete and total stop. I rolled away and he pulled out and followed me. I did not notice him at first then I looked up and saw he was behind me, he followed for about 2 miles then lit me up. I pulled into a parking lot, he came up and asked if I knew why I was pulled over, I said, Speeding? I am not really sure?" He told me about my rolling stop and asked for my ID insurance regi. When I pulled out my ID he looked down and saw this: ![]() He cried out, is that McLovin?! Then busted out laughing and said, let me see that. I handed it to him, he laughed some more and asked where I got it. I told him. He handed everything back and told me to not roll through stop signs anymore. Which I do. He was not after me for rolling the stop sign, he was fishing, looking for someone who rolled into the hood to buy drugs, it was obvious after interacting with me I was not the droid her was looking for and he let me go. I could be pissed for him profiling my car as a potential vehicle with a drug buyer or seller inside. I was glad he was out making his presence known trying to keep the bad guys from running the show in that part of the town. My son has always owned E30's his first E30 was purchased from RickV, the shop Rick worked in at the time had the car come in. The owners of it had pulled it out of police impound, their druggie son lost the car while he sat in jail. The car was neglected and needed a lot of TLC, more than the parents wanted to spend. They offered it to Rick for cheap, we were going to make it a 24 Hours of Lemons car then backed out, he sold it to my son as a first car. He was in HS and the police were "training a drug sniffing dog" in the student parking lot. My sons car set the dog off. He was pulled from class by the school resource officer (instant street cred) and taken to the parking lot to open up his car for searching. He talked guns with them while they searched the car, he also showed them all the places they missed while searching the car helping them out. I got a call from the resource officer telling me what happened and also telling me I have an awesome son. I explained the back story of the car, which my son seemed to do as well. The officer laughed and remarked there must be some serious residue on that car. My son has been pulled over driving down the road in his various E30's over the years, ever damn time they want to search the car. Every time he lets them search. One time he was pulled over because a black BMW sedan was involved in a drive by shooting. My son happened to be on the wrong stretch of road at the wrong time. They searched his car and found a box of 12 ga. Shells in the trunk he forgot to take out after we were a the skeet range the day before. That triggered the cop, since he was 17 this was a big problem, I get a cagey call from a female officer who is asking very vague questions. I was growing more frustrated by her line of questions and asked if I needed to come meet her with a lawyer. She changed her tune then told me WTF was going on. I asked her some questions, was a shotgun used in the driveby? No.. Then what is the problem? Is it illegal for a 17 y/o to posses ammo and no gun? No. Have a nice day. My cousin used to be a patrol cop, I asked why they set up obvious speed traps. We are actually arguing at a family function, he said I would be amazed how many bad people they catch in speed traps that they pull off the street. Many with warrants, many with no license and no insurance driving the on the street. He changed my mind. OP sorry for your uncomfortable situation, the difference between you and the idiots we see on the news that ended up shot is you were respectful, compliant and calm. Any one of my incidents when I have been pulled over could easily end bad for me if I decided to be an ass to the cop. Being cool, even if the cop is a dick, proves you are the bigger man in the situation. Oh and nosy neighbors that are 911 happy are idiots. Maybe the cop should pay them a visit after they make a false report like that.

^^^ Funny stuff.
When I had my hip replaced three years ago, I was finally able to start walking/AARP Jogging (shuffling) for exercise again....first time without pain in a decade. Late Winter I got strong enough to begin to do a two, then three mile route in my rural area. In the past ten years the waterfront housing market exploded here so a lot of new money has arrived and built some really extraordinary places father up and down the peninsula from me. Evidently, the first sighting of a hooded Sasquatch ambling among the elite on a county road was cause for alarm. The County police cruiser at least approached me from the front and was polite. "You live around here?" "Yes I do". "Mind telling me where?" "Sure..." I gave him my address. "Do you mind if I take you there?" "I do. I can meet you there in 30 minutes after I finish my walk. Here, take my cell phone." "I can't do that." "Sure you can..." "Looks like we are good." "Appears so." It happens, folks. My guy was polite, yours wasn't.

Sorry Slow and Rusty.
I agree with a few who posted here. The Cop could of done a better job You were profiled Tabs actually made a few good points My apologies to your friend - if this was his first time to the USA - it will feed the paranoia those abroad who have a perception of Americans. Living in Chicago all of my life, you never mouth off to a Cop, especially if you are a minority.

I would much rather have proactive cops looking for trouble makers, than to only be re-active, and late to the crime scene.
To the OP, it appears that some do-gooder reported two suspicious minorities loitering around her castle, and called the cops, or it could have been a legitimate call about some one else in a coincidence. |

I have been pulled over for " crossing the yellow line". I turned around in a bar parking lot. pulling out the cop pulled me over. "I pulled you over for crossing the yellow line, have you been drinking" pulled over after leaving a bar when I played music. you have a license plate light out, have you been drinking
