Does your wife watch those houswives, vanderpump shows ?
I don't get it, an hour of women complaining about each other, back stabbing each other, and bickering about nonsense. Is that how rich prominent women live ?
I cannot remove myself from the room fast enough when I hear it on the boob tube . To think she ridiculed me for watching jack ass .

It’s called
“Personality rubbernecking.” It’s just designed to make regular people feel better because at least they’re not a mess like those people in tv. One undesirable side effect is that some people think that’s how “real people” act.

Yep. I don't get it since she calls me out for watching "trash" as she calls it. Pot kettle.
Plus it is fairly inconsistent with her moral views to watch that crap.

Luckily, mine is as adverse to reality TV about dysfunctional priveleged people as I am. She doesn't watch much, but tends toward The Walking Dead or General Hospital via on demand on cable. I don't watch much TV, so she's on her own.

Partly because women are generecally a whole other level of social animal. On an evolutionary scale they need to be. Its all about household couping and the opposite of older Clint Eastwood movies, which pretty much depicts the primitive male position in the sex race.
A bit crude and over simplified but there it is.

people like drama or scandal. things that are bad in others lives make some feel better woman perhaps a little more than men. why do you think women have the reputation for gossip. they love to hear bad things going on in other peoples lives.

I go so far as to turn the channel on my favorite car/bike/truck building shows when they start showing all the personal drama and crap, and stop showing how to build/paint the cars. I have no idea how someone would want to watch the Hollywood housewives contrived drama.
Generally, when the arguing starts, I shut it off. |

Are these "Little Women LA", "Little Women Atlanta" shows, Which are the same shows, but with little people Empowering, or Expoitation? Or is there a nice portmanteau for it?

No. She watches Investigation Discovery. Hour after hour of real life murders and how they were solved. And more home improvement and gardening shows. Then any of the "sports" (just games) of people playing with a ball.
All in between her time spent in the flower gardens at out house.

My wife records a tranche of British mysteries and classics and watches them with the dogs since I have anything I would rather be doing.

My daughter (a doctor) watches those shows. She says it's an escape from reality (she's a pediatrician and deals with a lot of sad kid stuff).
There is another show that makes those "wives" look like nuns. It's called WAGS - wives and girlfriends. It's basically a gaggle of silicon-stuffed whores trying to prevent their baller men from cheating. The whole show is these freaks trying to keep tabs on said ballers to make sure they don't get kicked to the curb and replaced with more, younger silicon. That's an hour of my life that is gone forever.
