22 target handspoon?

Anyone playing around with these?

On my shopping list:

Browning Buckmark Contour URX 7.25" 22LR
S&W VICTORY 22LR
Ruger Mark III Hunter 22LR

Anyone have comments/experience with these?

TIA

Love my Ruger Mk II - stainless, heavy 5.5" barrel. Put a Weigand scope mount on it and a 2moa dot, golf balls at out to 40 yards are fairly easy to hit now.

Also picked up a plain Buckmark on a whim a while ago, great reliable pistol but I'm not a fan of the fiber optic sights. Will replace eventually with either better irons, or move the red dot to the BM and put the factory irons back on the Ruger.

I had the MkIII hunter. It was big and heavy and as a result I never took it shooting much. Also don't care for the grip / angle, fiber sights and the complicated cleaning. It was stupid looking to me after a while with the fluted bull barrel.

So, off it went in a trade for a shotgun I use every weekend during waterfowl season.

For .22 duty, I prefer revolvers, i.e. the single six with a long barrel. Can shoot .22 mag as well!

I have the Contour. Pleasantly surprised it was on our retarded CA compliant list.

It is stupid accurate. Even in my hands. I can send the target halfway down range and shoot a very decent group. I haven’t messed with it much as far as sights and trigger. It should come with brighter sights. I had a guy pull out a white paint pen and put a tick on my front sight at the gun range. Vast improvement. Trying to buy a red dot makes my head hurt. Apparently our rail is more Weaver, less piccitiny.
I need to try better ammo. I have only used cheap bulk.

It is a ***** to clean. The instructions state not to take it apart. I hose it down with gun scrubber and run a bore snake down the barrel. Only the Otis system works for me. It’s stiff enough to push the snake around the ejection port corner.

Finding a holster was impossible. It’s in Texas right now with a friend getting a kydex one made.

If I could i would have gotten the markIV. Purely for ease of cleaning.

I'm thinking a red dot would be fun with this little bugger, if you don't mind me asking what are you using?

Hard to go wrong - as always, shoot before you by.

I have a Ruger MkII Bull Barrel I bought in 1984 - still shoots better than I ever will. Pain to clean but I think the MKIII fixed that. I love the thing and will never sell.

Friend of mine owns the Browning Buckmark Contour URX 7.25" 22LR and I shoot it a lot. I'd get one but I have the MKII and a Ruger Single Six. Nice weapon, very accurate and I like the grips.

I have not shot the S&W.

Enjoy.

Bummer, I really liked the look of the Contour... but the rail and cleaning problem may put it at the bottom of the list.

Still Have my old Browning (made in Belgium) Challenger. Quite a nice target pistol. Sorry, not for sale.

Today? I'd strongly suggest looking for a Sig Trailside...

They are all the same way cleaning. Only the new MarkIV pivots open easily. And that is Not CA compliant.

I support a family of 5 on an educators salary, so I go inexpensive but not cheap.

The Bushnell TRS-25 is great - about $80, has a 3moa dot, and multiple thousands of hours of battery life. Have had one on both my FN-FAL build and a 9mm AR through thousands of rounds with no issues.

Had a Primary Arms 2moa dot - almost exactly like the Bushnell. Died recently, only a few months out of warranty.

Replaced it with one of these - https://www.at3tactical.com/products/at3-tactical-rd-50-micro-red-dot-sight-w-optional-riser-mount

Has 2moa dot, again thousands of hours of battery life, and a lifetime warranty. About to order another ....

Do not buy the new Sig. I think it’s called the mosquito or something.

Didn't you just purchase a .357 revolver? That was my first handspoon decades ago....expensive to shoot even back then. My second purchase soon after was a .22 revolver....then I got a .....

Now you ain't gonna get what I have (Colt Diamondback ), but have you considered a wheel spoon?

I was talking the no longer made Trailside. I was suitably impressed when shooting one at the gun club I belong to. Wish I'd bought one when it was new.

This is a browning. I don't really use it but I remember it as being fairly accurate with SK Standard plus ammo.

I picked up the new Ruger Charger a week ago. Basically the 10/22 in pistol version. Off hand isn't really a option without a brace, but benching the thing is a ton of fun. Not a huge fan of the 10/22 but this is kinda a different animal. Too many little add-ons, and potential upgrades. Way too many. And it was fairly cheap. Mine's generally to use on our ground squirrels in the hay fields.-WW

I have a Mark III Target model and a Mark III 22/45 Lite.

The Target model is stock while the Lite model has every mod I could find, compensated, Burris Fastfire 3 red dot and a sweet trigger, just shy of 2lbs.

Hard to go wrong with the Ruger. I would go with the Mark IV with the improved take down feature.

The older models are a little tricky to get back together.

my sister bought one. the "ramp" that the bullet ride up and into the chamber is so unfinished it will not FEED any ammo. we called Sig and they would not honor any warranty. they actually suggested we take a dremel and knock it down some. i actually laughed at the guy. apparently, UMAREX makes the gun under Sig's names..so no factory warranty. last i check, UMAREX made pellet guns. hahah. the Mosquito does look pretty cool..like a shrunken down 226.
