Fleetwood Mac...touring.
Normally this wouldn't be intriguing...though I have FM albums from the 60s when Peter Green founded them (British blues), and they were a constant part of my youth. But this will be a "new band".... no Lindsey Buckingham, and with Mike Campbell (awesome) on guitar....I bet it's gonna be fresh and new....

I love Fleetwood Mac and they are on my bucket list of concerts, but not having Buckingham in the lineup seems like it takes away too much. The guy has so much passion when he plays. The new guys can play along, but I doubt they can bring it like Lindsey.

I saw them in Hawaii in 1976 and again in 1978 (Rumours tour). Lindsey and Stevie had just joined and transformed the band. Two of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.
One of my favorites: https://youtu.be/v5kOzGwsHXw Everyone has a part, but it features Lindsey and Stevie. Tell me Campbell can even touch this performance.

I've seen FM twice and Lindsey 5 times. I'd take a Lindsey solo show over FM any day.

It's good to see Christine joining them, IMO she plays as big of a part as Lindsey. just ain't the same without her.
Mick said we tour in January, Lindsey said he'd be ready in September, Mick said see ya don't wanna be ya. Stevie said that they were going to be performing a lot of pre-1975 stuff, something they couldn't do before because of a "certain" individual. I'm not sure who she was referring to ...... the '75 self-titled album (5 million copies) and the Rumors album (40 million copies) were way over-rated anyway. I'm sure their previous ten albums were just as good I can't remember anyone under the age of 40 who didn't have a copy of the rumors album in the late 70's. It was unusual to Listen to an FM radio station for 10 minutes without hearing a song from that album. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I'm betting the scars still haven't healed. They had some good songs in this early years but were mostly a british blues band and certainly weren't mainstream. I wonder what the majority of their fans will think when they hear the old stuff instead of Rhiannon, Go Your Own Way, Don't Stop, and You Make Loving Fun? And no one can sound like Lindsey. His equipment and style can't be imitated. Kinda like Mark ka-noffler. BTW, bob Welch. Nice timing on the whole solo career thing ![]() Last edited by sammyg2; 04-26-2018 at 06:39 AM.. |

Ha, discount, good one.
It would be like going to see Led Zeppelin with that guy from Journey singing lead vocals

would not want to see them without Buckingham.
we did see them a few years ago. sat up high to the side of the stage. there was another drummer backstage playing along with mic Fleetwood. perhaps for time, maybe incase mic flubbed it.

When you see Lindsey live you still get to hear a lot of FM stuff including his solo stuff (Holiday Road, Trouble, etc.). Here's a great solo performance and this is also a great album..

They open at BOK Center in Tulsa, but Buckingham is who makes it such a vibrant show. I prefer the Peter Green/ Danny Kirwan version anyway.....

Saw them a few years back with Mick, Lindsay, Stevie, Christine and John. It was on my bucket list. It was a great show and happy I saw them all together. I'm saddened I missed the Eagles before Glenn Frey left us. Perfect example of don't put off until tomorrow. You never know.

In the interview, Mick was acting like this was going to be a NEW version of FM, not an imitation of the old one. They are re-inventing what Fleetwood Mac is.
OK, fair enough. But if they expect to have anywhere near the same following they'll have to re-earn it. They are a tough act for them to follow. Ha! i crack me up. PS Stevie has been saying for 15 years that she wanted to be an official member of Tom Petty's heart-breakers. Maybe this is how she does it. Hay, maybe they can get Bob Dylan to sing lead! |

They'll probably do quite well in the venues scheduled. Most of their contemporaries are playing the casino/bike rallye circuits

Wow - that's really interesting. I've seen them many times but never without Lindsey Buckingham.
In fact, I really don't even know their pre - Lindsey/Stevie music - might be really cool. Thanks for the heads-up!
