Cut lawns (parents and my own) for 45 years. We just moved and for the first time, I’m using a lawn service. So far...it’s awesome. No mower to maintain, store, repair, and more time to ride motorcycles, boating, relaxing. So far, no regrets.

I have to cut about 2 acres, my two kids fight over who does the main part, I have to do the edges, ditches, trees, etc.
JD Riding mower and Stihl trimmer so no big deal.

I actually enjoy cutting the grass. 3 acres, plus, I have been helping with my neighbors 7 acres.
Just the dull hum of the tractor and a stretch of hours alone with my own thoughts .
I really want a zero turn . Just used one for the first time, and I would say, it was almost fun mowing

How long would it take to mow a 1.3 acre corner lot and edge all of the beds, sidewalks and curb? 3 hours? I'd rather pay the $50 and spend more time with my kids. When they're older, though, it could be a different story.

We don't cut the grass here, we mow the lawn.

I pay my friends teenage sons to do mine. They started a mowing business to pay for their motocross hobby. It’s the least I can do to help out budding entrepreneurs.

For the last 10 years have had Neice and Nephews kids mowing my yard.
I made a LOT mowing yards when I was their age, offered to let them and they were all gung ho.
Last year they did a horrible job keeping it mowed.
This year they have only been by twice, so am mowing myself again now.

I cut mine, acre+ and I also cut my neighbors.

I like cutting grass.

I usually bag it but my leaf sucker that goes on the deck is broke.

the guy behind me pays some Mexicans to do his. funny, said something about being a devout republican.

i miss having a lawn. i LOVE cutting grass..edging all of it. except the sweeping. i broom swept tho. an air blower would change that.

i also miss having excess water in which we could even have a lawn. lawn shaming is a thing here.

i used to love dumping the clippings into my compost bin. cut grass and sawdust would heat up crazy.

I mow 6.5 acres with my tractor that has a 72" bush hog on the PTO. It takes about 4 hours including using the zero turn to cut inn around the fences and trees.

I find the drone of the mower mutes the voices in my head, and therefore, is relaxing.

My next store neighbor just decided to hire a lawn care company to do his place. $187 to cut the yard each time. At this time of year, the lawn grows so fast you need to do it once- really twice a week, to stay on top.

He can't be doing it four times a month. So let's say twice a month cutting= $374 a month.

In other news, I got one of the tractor's from my dad's house running again. It hadn't run in almost 10 years. I learned to mow on this when I was 8 years old. One of my last father's day gifts to him was a mower deck belt for this, which sat on his wall for years, so I assumed it was never used, but when I picked the mower up, he had installed the belt, and used it, which made me smile a bit.

The ironic thing is my wife decided the country is not for her and moved (us) into a condo with about 40 square feet of grass to attend to. This as I now have four tractors which could mow the universe.

Again- I like to go to my mountain house and turn on the mower. It really does drone out my current anger and frustrations. Nothing like 50 hp and 10 feet of blades spinning below you on an off camber slope to keep you 'grounded'

I have always cut my own. All of my current neighbors do as well. In Georgia, I was the only one on my street to cut their own grass.

I just recently sub’ed out the lawn mowing at my weekend house in PA. Done the job for the last 5 years, but finding it more and more difficult to find time. Spring and early summer it needs to be done weekly and has historically forced me to run out there every weekend if only to cut the grass. Its going to cost me, but I am so far enjoying having my time back. Also won’t miss maintenance on the machine, which really takes a beating on my property.
