Credit Card Fraud - the got me *again*!

I got a call from my bank's fraud dept this afternoon about a bunch of questionable transactions. I got gas at a Chevron (Watt & 80) this morning, and within minutes (literally) there were transactions at several stores in the Bay Area. The POS terminal at the pump looked pretty much exactly the same as any other, but apparently it has a skimmer installed.

Yeah, I think I mentioned gas stations in your last CC fraud thread. If there is no security seal on the panel door, or it's been tampered with, I tell the attendant and move to another pump.

With all the skimmer activity at gas stations, even if I had a credit card, I wouldn't use it at the pump.

I had a card go bad and I believe it was at a gas pump.

Wonder if they could implement Multi-Factor Authentication with Credit Cards?
Swipe your card and receive a text on your phone then enter the 6 digit authentication code.

I mostly pay cash for everything. It precludes the scammers...

Mine has that, although it's a four digit code..

Hopefully the stores have CCTV cameras because the police are keen to catch these guys.

The new card have chips, but the gas stations have swipe type readers.

To be fair, watt and 80 isn't there place best in town. There was a motel there years back known for the most prostitution

Yeah. I was on my way to a class in Natomas and was pretty low on gas.
