Bad motorcycle crash today:
This happened almost right outside of my buddy’s house, where I keep my trailers. Maybe 300 yds from the driveway. I was there at the time but did not hear the crash, just all of the sirens going by. I was actually afraid that it was another brush fire.
When I finally looked, I saw all of the emergency vehicles on the next corner. It’s a fast, semi-rural road that coincidentally is where Leno films all of those garage videos of his cars and also where Singer tests cars almost daily. Lots of high-speed runs, you get used to howling motors whizzing past. A motorcycle was heading east and a small Mercedes coupe pulled out from the side street. The bike drilled the driver’s door and killed the driver plus himself. The bike and part of his body was imbedded in the car, which continued forward into a fence. His head was in the road, still in his helmet. It’s been a while since I’ve seen something this gnarly but unfortunately not the first time. Sad. ![]() Two people killed when motorcycle and car collide in Shadow Hills

I’m sorry if this is inappropriate. It has me a little shook.

Back around 1970 I gave up riding as my only means of transportation. Reasons: People pulling out of side streets in front of me, people turning left in front of me, and several other dangerous maneuvers. I ride now mostly doing errands but live in a rural area without lots of traffic. Those times I ride into the big city I don't feel apprehensive but I'm glad I don't do that all the time. Each morning the news announces one or more motorcycle accidents. They are all sad occurrences.

Yeah, it’s about as bad as it gets for a MC crash except for the fact that both were killed instantly. The bike just drilled half way through the front seat area of the car. Unbelievable and can’t believe I didn’t hear it. I was in back, the house shields a lot of noise.

Sorry you had to see this. As someone who has witnessed things similar, this will be with you for the rest of your life. Don't be afraid to talk to someone if you need to.

My colleague at work has recently returned from the funeral of his half-brother. Barely rear ended at a stop light and it was enough to push him into fast cross traffic. Sometimes even the best riding skills are not enough....

Yep. Happens more than you might think.

I came across one of these on the Sunset Strip 20 years ago where there were body parts everywhere, like the guy had been drawn and quartered.

Stuff like this is usually game over for a biker. One of the leading members of the R1100S died when a van pulled in front of him. I've had a few close calls over the years and am glad I retired from biking, to be honest.
RIP

Damn. Well, at least it was over quickly for both of them. Their families won't be so lucky. Hopefully they are spared the details.

How awful. Very sad for everyone involved. Including you and the cops.

First dead body I ever saw was this exact type of crash outside my high school years ago - in that case motorbike was going fast enuf in the city to roll the car uphill.
Sad - I look at accidents very closely so I never forget how tragic a mistake on my bike could be. |

Not at all, Denis. I've witnessed some pretty nasty stuff in my days.
I'd be shook up also. . I stopped risky riding once I started track. Streets and the fools driving vehicles are far more dangerous. Because of cell phones I don't enjoy riding public roads like I used to. Have to be so vigilant nowadays. And blind driveways are to be heeded. When I'm out during the day, I breath easy and have a moment of joy when I see a clear road ahead...for a few moments, at least. I sometimes will go out at midnight to ride...very little traffic. . Old saying, "There's no such thing as a small accident on a motorcycle." . That must have been a nerve jarring scene!!!

Thinking about it Denis; this must have been very traumatic for you. Take it easy for a while.
