Porsche Mechanic In Portland OR?

Hi all, need a Porsche mechanic in Portland OR for a 3.2 Carrera that won't start easily or idle right. It has some deferred maintenance needs too. Any recommendations?

I found Heckmann & Thiemann on Powell Blvd, they seem to sponsor an annual Porsche Parade, dunno if that is a good sign or not . . . for my wallet . . .

I'd ideally like a small shop, like a John Walker type. But Portland is a little place so I will take what I can get.

Contact Steve Weiner (Steve@Rennsport), he will set you up with the right mechanic to fit your needs.

Hi John,

I am currently using Kurt at Marque Motors on Macadam for the things I would prefer not to do.

Some like Heckman Thiemann but they seem to prefer the 4 bangers.

On the East side, I have heard good things about A&P Specialties.

John,

For routine maintenance and repairs, I'd recommend Kurt @ Marque Motors in SW Portland. Stuttgart Autotech in Lake Oswego may still be OK, however Mike Jordan no longer works there so I cannot vouch for who does what now.

Stay away from Heckman & Thiemann.

My car came with recent receipts from Marque Motors in the history, and the work they did seems to have been good.

Thanks everyone! First time I have taken the car to a mechanic in 10+ years, so your advice is really appreciated.

Wes at Motor Sports International in Beaverton has many years experience on air cooled 911s. It is a small shop with good service.

Be thankful you don't live in the metropolis called Eugene.

Yes, indeed,...Wes is VERY good with these air-cooled cars and has been doing this for 30+ years. He's thorough & extremely conscientious.

This link doesn't work for me, does anybody know if they've changed their website? We're moving just down the street from them, so if they're recommended it seems a no brainer for maintenance. (..can't work on the car at the rental home!)

Steve, I understand you're more about performance than general servicing? Is that fair to say or do you guys "do it all"?

Thanks!

Hi Doug,

Yessir,...we specialize in performance work and leave the general maintenance tasks to the other shops in the area.

Thanks! Might be talking to you down the road about some suspension re-work.

I should probably get a job first...

I figured...drove by them two weeks ago getting rental house taken care of, they had a half dozen cars on the property. Not a big deal about the website, mostly looking for more info. If folks here recommend, that's good enough for me.

I should have time this week to drop in and say hello. Sadly, still don't have our car out here yet....hopefully next week!

I know this thread is mighty old, but obviously still relevant if I found it. I've gone to A&P for a few years and I really like those guys. Alan knows his stuff, that's for sure. That being said, they have made 3 pretty sizable mistakes on 3 different occasions. Their first instinct was to doubt me and send me on my way, only later to admit I was right. They did correct the mistakes at no cost, but it does have me doubting where to take my g50 next.

I'm not a leave a negative review guy, but feel like the forums could use this info. Hope it helps.

As if this time, for Air Cooled, I feel that Heckmann Theiman, A&P, and Matrix Integrated would be the shops I consider.

Marque has changed and my go to Guy there is now at Heckmann.

I have also heard that Traftons has a good Porsche guy on staff.
